Kahala Nui is in search of a Full-time Registered Dietician. Responsible for assessing the nutritional needs of residents and ensuring that the nutritional care components of the resident care plan are developed and implemented for each resident and that they are periodically reviewed and modified in accordance with all quality standards of care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Continuously EVALUATE the Quality Assurance of nutritional care plans and service standards
· ASSESS the needs of residents by establishing Minimum Data Sets for the following areas:
a. Adequacy of diet
b. Appropriate consistency
c. Intake of fluid
d. Feeding problems (paralysis, illness, dentures)
e. Adaptive tools
f. High or low weight
g. Lab data
h. Food medication interaction
i. Decubitus
j. Elimination
· PROVIDE timely service support to Dietary staff as needed.
· REVIEW and EVALUATE menus and operational procedures for federal and state compliance.
· COLLABORATE with inter-disciplinary team.
· COMMUNICATE with residents and/or families to obtain diet history.
· ATTEND weekly care plan meetings.
· PARTICIPATE in committee or task force groups such as the Safety Committee as required.
· PUBLISH and print Dining Room menus
· ATTEND all in-services as required.
· UPHOLD all community and departmental hospitality and service standards.
· SUPPORT and CONTRIBUTE to any organizational initiatives to achieve Kahala Nui’s long term goals.
· MAINTAIN a clean and safe work environment following the “clean as you go” policy.
· RESPOND to all resident requests or needs in a timely and courteous manner.
· COMPLY with all company policies and procedures and all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
· Promptly REPORT any potential fraud or safety, health or company policy violations to Supervisor or Human Resources.
· COMPLY with all HIPAA requirements to protect the confidentiality of PHI (protected health information).
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree in dietetics or nutrition.
· Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration / must be registered with CDR.
· Member of American Dietetic Association preferred.
· Two years dietary experience, preferably working in a long term care environment.
· Proficient in the use of computer programs, preferably MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Proof of annual tuberculosis clearance in accordance with state regulations.
· Must be available to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays.
· Valid CPR and First Aid certification
