About the Role
The primary role of the Regional Medical Director is to oversee the medical care provided at the Level2 Virtual Clinic in specified region and nationally. This individual will support and direct the highest quality care available for Level2 patients while always assuring the UHG mission, vision, and values are met. This position will report to the National Medical Director
Due to current patient demand, we are ideally seeking physicians who are licensed to practice in multiple states specifically in the Western United States and also have the ability to see patients in other regions and time zones based on business and patient care needs. In addition, the RMD will be required to OBTAIN LICENSURE at a minimum in the following states.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care provided by the Level2 Telemedicine Clinic for specified region and other regions as patient care needs arise
- Responsible for promoting high standards of practice through the development of polices, protocols, practice guidelines, and the by participating in rigorous performance improvement monitoring.
- Provide clear direction to achieve goals, creating an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement.
- Provides and manages direct patient care through the Level2 telemedicine platform to include but not limited to telemedicine visits, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and chronic condition management as they pertain to the scope of practice in the Level2 Clinic.
- Works with and coordinates care of the other physicians and advance practitioners in the Level2 Clinic specified region.
- Maintains an effective working and interpersonal relationship with community medical colleagues, UHC and Optum medical/clinical colleagues, and patients in order to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

- Organize, direct, and integrate practices to assure continued compliance with applicable telemedicine, state and federal laws governing the practice of medicine and treating patients through the Level2 Virtual Clinic.
- Ensures timely and accurate reporting and responses to compliance-related issues and monitors the implementation of corrective action plans related to such issues for providers in specified region.
- Works with the National Medical Director, CMO, Director of Clinical Operations and the Practice Manager to face tasks and challenges of the Level2 Clinic.
- Will be responsible to oversee Nurse Practitioners and engage in Collaborative Agreements (or their equivalent) based on state requirements.
- Participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring process of Level2 Virtual Clinic providers.
- Adheres to standards of business conduct and compliance.
- Promote provider support for diagnostic and E and M coding accuracy, adherence with the corporate compliance plan and attainment of productivity targets.
- Mediates professional disagreements among providers and staff
- Ensure all regional and national clinical programs are in compliance with regional and state laws and regulations.
- May be required to participate in a call schedule and take call to address acute patient needs over telephonic or telemedicine consultation/visits.

Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of medicine, board certified in a specialty field of medicine, and currently licensed by a state board of medicine to practice medicine in states she/he is responsible for working or supervising others in. Internal medicine or family medicine or endocrinology training and experience required.
- 5 + years of experience working in a clinical practice
- 3 + years of experience in administration, management, and/ or a supervisory capacity
- Should be eligible for licensure in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

- Have graduated from an accredited medical school, or a school listed in the International Medical Education Directory
- Have successfully completed ACGME- or AOA-accredited graduate medical education
- Passed each component of the USMLE, COMLEX-USA, or equivalent in no more than three attempts for each component - Please note: Passing the Canadian Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, or the LMCC, DOES NOT meet this requirement
- Hold a current specialty certification or time-unlimited certification by an ABMS or AOABOS board
- Experience delivering telemedicine experience
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and State/Federal laws governing medical services
- Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the western region of the US or have multiple licenses within the Easter region.
- Reside in Western region
- Availability to work evening hours 1-2 days or more based on business needs
