Based on education, experience and interview, this opportunity will be filled commensurate at any job title in the Regional Environmental Coordinator job family:

Regional Environmental Coordinator Principal (grade 7)
Regional Environmental Coordinator Sr. (grade 6)
Regional Environmental Coordinator (grade 5) = bachelor's degree + two (2) years of experience

The Region Environmental Coordinator is responsible for implementation and coordination of environmental compliance programs and corporate environmental policies, standards and procedures associated within the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley regions. Responsibilities include support to Transmission, Distribution, Supply Chain, Fleet Operations, Real Estate, Workplace Services, Telecommunications and other assets as assigned within the responsible territory. Applicable programs include but may not be limited to aboveground and underground storage tanks, transportation of hazardous materials, solid and hazardous waste management, spill prevention control and countermeasures, wastewater, storm water, groundwater and drinking water, oil and chemical spill response and management, air emissions, asbestos, PCB management, pollution prevention, environmental site assessments, and emergency planning, and community right-to-know management.

Key competencies of this position are technical expertise, planning and organization ability, problem solving, written and oral communication skills and initiative.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS are listed below:
1) Coordinate and maintain all environmental activities in the assigned regions to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and corporate environmental policies, standards and procedures.
2) Assist and provide input to Environmental Services leadership on the development of corporate environmental policies, standards and procedures.
3) Provide training, instruction and assistance to employees on the implementation of environmental program requirements and assist in the development of environmental training materials.
4) Provide support in the event of an oil or chemical spill including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts (if necessary) and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies and internal communication requirements.
5) Conduct periodic assessments of conformance to environmental policies, standards, and procedures at assigned assets. Collaborate with business unit staff to implement corrective and preventive actions as needed to ensure conformance is achieved and sustained.
6) Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities, assisting the lead auditor(s).
7) Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the public, and Company facilities.
8) Perform or oversee environmental site inspections, coordinate and review Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects, assisting the senior reviewer.
9) Communicate public inquiries regarding environmental matters to Environmental Services leadership and coordinate the response as appropriate.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience requirement listed below:

Minimum of two (2) years of environmental experience

Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
  • Valid driver's license
