Job Description
Eisai is preparing for the potential launch of a new product in the U.S. focused on educating HCPs on a treatment (if FDA-approved) for appropriate individuals suffering from mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) or mild AD. The Regional Business Director (RBD) will be part of a diverse team of professionals who support this important launch and will be responsible for identifying strategic opportunities and developing tactical programs to support the achievement of desired business results.
In this role, the RBD will have the primary responsibility of building an elite team of Area Business Leaders (ABL), overseeing the build of a regional Neurology Account Specialist (NAS) team alongside their ABLs, and then leading demand generation in a manner consistent with the FDA-approved indication (presuming approval) to meet or exceed sales objectives. This will be accomplished by conveying complex clinical information to customers and key stakeholders regarding FDA-approved indications of this novel therapy. The individual will implement and oversee regional business plans consistent with the national strategy to achieve regional objectives and will lead their region in increasing the knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease within the medical community.

AD Regional Director (RD) Essential Functions
  • Attract, hire, develop and retain a diverse new team of ABLs & NASs while acclimating them to Eisai’s culture and commitment to our human healthcare mission ( hhc)
  • Lead from the front as it pertains to being an agile leaner setting and leading challenging goals, showcasing flexibility, collaboration, and speed
  • Cultivate a culture of high performance with emphasis on individual/team accountability
    • Ensure sales objectives are met/exceeded through an effective coaching partnership of their ABLs, training, inspiring, and performance management - this includes the understanding and pull through of developed launch business plans
    • Effective use of coaching and performance evaluations for ABLs and ensuring that coaching and performance evaluations are effectively accomplished for all sales personnel within the AD salesforce
    • Collect and coordinate feedback in conjunction with the Director of Marketing to provide continuous coaching and performance evaluations for AD Regional Marketers
  • Lead from the front as it pertains to agility with learning
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and tactics that are consistent with achieving Alzheimer’s Division (AD) sales goals. This includes examining results, providing direction and making necessary adjustments to achieve national sales goals
  • Partner with relevant cross functional departments to provide market intelligence and contribute to development of appropriate business strategies that support brand(s) objectives
    • To include but not limited to Marketing, HR, Sales Training, Trade, Managed Markets, Business Operations
  • Support their corresponding Regional Marketer to create and evolve the KOL Engagement Plan, including identification and execution of KOL engagement opportunities that will benefit Eisai
    • Key Opinion Leader identification should include national, regional and emerging leaders
  • Support national advocacy initiatives and oversee the identification of appropriate local advocacy sponsorship opportunities by field sales to assess ability to increase patient education and awareness of AD
  • Engage and influence major accounts and key customers to establish a strong organizational presence and enhance sustainable growth of Eisai’s AD portfolio.
  • Oversee the appropriate execution of FDAMA 114 by the AD Regional Marketers in coordination with the National Director of the RTLLs; deliver FDAMA 114 when availability of RTLL is limited or unavailable
  • Ensure the respective regional salesforce budgets and expenses are managed within guidelines
  • Demonstrate strong awareness, understanding, and adherence to all industry and Company regulations and guidelines; apply these standards across all business operations to ensure compliance with our company and industry policies (i.e. policies/procedures, resource utilization, sales and account data, etc.)
  • Drive company leased vehicle to meetings with health care providers and other appropriate stakeholders and partners
  • When necessary, travel overnight for field visits, customer engagement meetings, congresses, training and sales meetings
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders ensuring alignment to organizational objectives, Eisai values and our hhc mission.
  • Communicate formally and informally with Eisai Senior Leaders providing appropriate business updates and launch progress against set objectives post launch
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (BA, BS or equivalent) required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 12 years of pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device sales with at least 5 years of successful experience hiring, developing and leading teams (leading leaders a plus)
  • Some element of buy-and-bill, diagnostics (integrated, complex), infusion, neurology, clinical/medical experience
  • Minimum 12+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience with 5+ years of successful experience hiring, developing, and leading teams required (external hires)
    • Buy & bill, neurology, medical device and/or biologics experience strongly preferred
  • Additional commercial function experience preferred (i.e. marketing, operations, markets access, etc.)
  • Built and executed comprehensive business plans
  • Experience and deep understanding of healthcare ecosystems and account management, navigating complex accounts critical for success, (working with integrated delivery networks, health systems preferably in a biopharmaceutical manufacturer capacity)
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance & regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated success leading to the delivery of strong results and profitability, establishing strong partnerships, leveraging market and customer insights, strategic and tactical planning
  • Expertise in U.S. healthcare industry; including the understanding of delivery of care, the market access and reimbursement landscape, and key stakeholders that influence decision making within local markets and healthcare systems Demonstrated ability to network, establish and maintain strong business relationships across multidisciplinary matrix team within Eisai.
  • Advanced understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturer compliance & regulatory requirements
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle legally, safely and successfully is required; candidates must have a valid driver’s license to be considered
