The Community Relationships Coordinator plays a vital role in cultivating, soliciting, and maintaining relationships between community partners, stakeholders, and individuals and the Refugee Services Program. The Community Relationships Coordinator conducts outreach, engaging and inspiring like-minded individuals from the community to become invested in the Refugee Services program. The Community Relationships Coordinator oversees all aspects of the Refugee Services Community Sponsorship Program. Additionally, the Community Relationships Coordinator provides ongoing support and training to Refugee Services Staff as they work with community members.

Possesses a strong commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities including an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and ability to demonstrate the Catholic philosophy and values of the agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Cultivate, solicit, and maintain key relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and individuals in Columbia, Jeff City, Fulton, Sedalia, and the surrounding areas.

● Scaffold and develop a strategic plan for outreach specifically focused on the Refugee Services program and its long-term goals.

● Coordinate and maintain all aspects of the Community Sponsorship Program, including Co-Sponsor Groups and Welcome Teams.

● Participate in the Refugee Welcome Collective’s Community Sponsorship consortium.

● Organize the recruitment, screening, onboarding, assigning, and training of all involved in the Community Sponsorship Program.

● Coordinate the compiling, documenting, analyzing, and sharing of community sponsorship volunteer data for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual sponsor and agency reports.

● Manage timely and professional communication with community sponsorship volunteers and provide ongoing support, such as through routine communication with group leaders, monthly newsletters, social media platforms, etc. Follows the approval process for communications, marketing, and/or promotional materials.

● Develop and maintain updated training materials for the community sponsorship program.

● Supervise and support the Community Events Manager, Community Sponsorship AmeriCorps VISTA members, interns, FedVols, and others as assigned.

● Provide ongoing support and training to Refugee Services and other CCCNMO staff regarding community outreach, communications, and community partner stewardship.

● Support staff in implementing agency policies, procedures, and practices regarding volunteers, interns, FedVols, and AmeriCorps associated community-facing programs, such as aiding with onboarding requirements, CERVIS support and documentation of hours, mileage, Language Link usage, vehicle usage, etc.

● Organize, plan, and host ongoing orientations, webinars, workshops, and in-person events to engage the community and tell the story of Refugee Services.

● Assist with outreach and community events such as World Refugee Day, Welcome Week, etc.

● Assist in planning and implementing volunteer engagement and retention activities, such as volunteer appreciation events.

● Engage Refugee Services Program audience on social media with accurate and engaging storytelling about the work being done.

● Conduct outreach and presentations in the community, including with faith communities, non-profits, schools, clubs, organizations, and employers.

● Develop connections with community partners and identify opportunities for collaboration that enhance agency and community capacity to meet the needs of refugee newcomers.

● Develop evaluation systems to solicit feedback from community sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and from clients working with community sponsors, such as through feedback surveys, exit interviews, etc.

● Attend and participate in agency, program, departmental, supervisor trainings, meetings, activities, programs, etc. as required.

● Maintain knowledge of program grants and services.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides supervision to Community Events Manager, AmeriCorps members, volunteers, and interns, as assigned. Additionally, the Community Relationships Coordinator provides ongoing support and training to various departments within Refugee Services, including Housing and Donations, Workforce Development, Youth Services and Adult Education.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in marketing, communications, policy, political science, or public administration preferred. Three or more years of professional experience in outreach and communications in a non-profit or community setting preferred. Three or more years of experience working with refugees and/or vulnerable populations preferred.

Computer Skills

Demonstrates excellent computer skills and familiarity with commonly used programs, including Microsoft Office Suite. Professional experience with social media strongly preferred. Ability to learn and effectively use various data collection and database management systems to record data required. Demonstrates strong proficiency with Internet tools and techniques for searching, extracting, and processing information.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Other Qualifications

Ability to successfully pass a child abuse registry check and criminal background check, and requires completion of the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS training session.

Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and ability to meet agency auto insurance coverage requirements. Local travel required.

This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
