Recreation Specialist - Recreation Centers
Job description
The essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Assists with the management of daily operations of the facility by scheduling and monitoring volunteers and employees, compiling figures and preparing reports, providing lesson plans and program planning, and authorizing permits and collecting fees for rental of the facility.
- Interacts with citizens by responding to inquiries, organizing and teaching classes and other special leisure programs, and contributing to the growth and development of students, seniors and volunteers.
- Markets recreational programs by distributing flyers and announcements to the community, and submitting press releases, and serving on committees for the planning and marketing of events, and providing assistance to employees.
- Plans, implements and evaluates recreational programs and daily activities of the center and provides assistance to employees.
- Performs related duties by carrying out administrative day care duties, transporting clients, submits and writes initiatives and monitors budget activities.
- Develops a positive relationship with the public by responding to inquiries.
- Ensures facility order and cleanliness.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Six (6) months of experience in the field of recreation and leisure activity or closely related.
The preferred candidate will possess:
- At least two (2) years of experience in programming in a community center, youth development program, fitness center, senior center, or school.
- Experience working in an art gallery or museum setting.
- Experience using Rec Trac.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (required within 6 months of hire)
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent inter-personal, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to see, hear, stand/walk for extended periods of time, lift from ground to above shoulder, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, perform tasks that require manual dexterity and utilize telephone communications.
Signing Bonus: This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus for applications received on or after February 22, 2022. The signing bonus will be paid in two (2) increments: $2,500 upon completion of 60 days of employment, and $2,500 upon completion of your probationary period. To receive the signing bonus, you must be an active employee in good standing.
Work Hours: Monday to Sunday; 6:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.; not to exceed 40 hours per week; flexible hours will apply including weekends, holidays, and special events.
A valid Driver's License is required.- CPR/First Aid Certification is required within six months of employment.
