POSITION SUMMARY:
Conduct recreation activities with groups in public, private, or volunteer agencies or recreation facilities. Organize and promote activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, music, dramatics, social recreation, camping, and hobbies, considering the needs and interests of individual members.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Organizing, promoting, and developing activities such as art, crafts, social recreation and hobbies.
- Serve as a member of the clinical team and participate in team meetings.
- Assist with developing workshops and day trips.
- Assist with preparing monthly recreation reports.
- Keep concise and accurate records of all activities.
- Conduct quarterly surveys of client population to ensure clients satisfaction with our services.
- Working creatively with various client groups in a therapeutic setting.
- Enabling clients to explore their artwork and the process of its production.
- Assessing and understanding the feelings or temperament of others.
- Constructively challenging the behavior and attitude of clients.
- Planning, designing, and facilitating a schedule of activities with individuals and groups.
- Maintaining recreation space and materials.
- Receiving support and discussing ideas in individual supervision.
- Keeping up to date with continuing professional development (CPD) by attending seminars, lectures, and workshops.
JOB COMPETENCY:
- High School Diploma, minimum three years of experience, Associates Degree, or equivalent training a plus.
- Knowledge of the goals and objectives of substance abuse treatment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SETTING:
- Must possess sight, hearing and digital senses or use prosthesis that will enable the essential functions of the job to be completed.
- Requires schedule flexibility.
