Job description
The Activities Recreational Professional Assistant is responsible for –Assisting, training, supervising team members, organizing, coordinating, and carrying out activities program under the direction of the Activities director. Performs secretarial duties such as typing, filing, calling, answering the phone, Xeroxing, and keeping accurate records. The activities Recreational Professional Assistant serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide an environment that enables each resident and outreach client to reach their highest attainable state of wellbeing.
Every other weekend and every other holiday
Assists in training and is a non-union supervisor position, supervising activity aides. Insures the team understands and does their duties.
Assists in planning and coordinating the overall activities program; with other departments to ensure resident activity needs are met.
Maintains the required records.Communicates effectively with the residents, co-workers, families, and physicians and maintains courteously.
Incorporates a customer-oriented approach into daily Care.
Assumes responsibility for enhancing personal and professional development through ongoing education.
Maintains confidentiality.
Performs other duties as assigned by Activities Director.
Responsible for overseeing the activity team, organizing and carrying out activities, and one-to-one visits. Requires ability to present information accurately and adequately. Works with confidential information. Responsible for performing the job so that the safety .of self, and others is protected and maintained.
Education and Training: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred, 2+ years of developing activities for the elderly, and/or an Activity Director Certification (ADC).
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Excellent communication, public relations, and organizational skills. Demonstrate ability to work with a wide range of individuals.
Physical Demands: Intermittent sitting; and walking. Must be able to lift 25 pounds—hearing acuity required for communication. Frequently required to carry items and steal items. Must use good body mechanics and performance requirements as shown on the R33.
