IMH is looking for 2 full-time quality inspectors to join our Indianapolis team- one on 2nd shift, from 4:15pm-2:45am (Mon-Thurs), and one on 1st shift, from 7am-3:30pm (Mon-Fri). Second shift comes with a $3 shift premium.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform quality inspections on fabricated parts by interpreting, measuring, and verifying mechanical dimensions and tolerances of parts according to drawings and procedures using standard measuring tools and equipment.
  • Inspect product during the manufacturing process for adherence to prints, proper manufacturing technique, and other processes as directed by your manager.
  • Create PPAP documentation for initial part submission per customer requirements.
  • Maintain calibration of quality control equipment.
  • Communicate quality concerns or detected non-conformances with urgency
  • Generate reports (such as but not limited to Corrective Action Reports, Inspection results, capability studies) to detail the discrepancies that warrant repair or remake.
  • Generate inspection reports as required and accept or reject finished items
  • Perform duties in compliance with quality procedures.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend continuous improvement activities using accepted methodologies.
  • Observe safety procedures are correct and report any observed safety violations.
  • Conduct time studies, collect data, and collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to implement process improvements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements (such as ISO 9000), as well as customer requirements.
  • Assist with implementation of 5S initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
  • At least 2 years ‘experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively solve problems, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a willingness to acquire additional training to enhance job skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Good speaking and listening skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones.
  • Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence.
