At Jacobs, effective quality assurance management as well as technical expertise are both crucial to the success of our projects and the strong relationships we have with our clients. The Quality Specialist (Design and Construction) provides quality and project management expertise while also providing the leadership and people skills necessary to effectively progress highly complex and challenging issues. We are looking for someone with a knowledge of Quality Assurance strategies and relevant industry practices, able to support the project delivery team as part of a large P3 infrastructure project. Good understanding of engineering and construction technical challenges within P3 infrastructure would be an asset. It will be possible to optimize the role based the strengths and qualifications that successful candidates bring to the table.

The Quality Specialist is directly responsible for managing interfaces across multiple organizations and teams, providing the expertise and leadership that is required to support the Program Management Team through the execution of the project.

The Quality Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining effective quality related aspects through development of instructions, procedures, training, reporting, assessment and audit, measurement and analysis, and continuous improvement.

Our Quality Specialist will:

  • Assist the Program Quality Manager to conduct reviews of the quality related elements of the design & construction quality management plans to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and that mandated quality objectives and targets are tracked and reported on
  • Assist the Program Quality Manager to identify the high-risk processes, to develop quality audit plans and schedules, and to identify audit findings
  • Assist in the development of quality audit plans and schedules, inputting data and producing Audit Reports for review, and identifying audit findings
  • Conduct audits of Design & Construction Contractor(s)
  • Prepare audit reports, record and follow up on audit findings
  • Creating and maintaining various tracking logs
  • Assist the Owner’s Representative field (construction) monitoring team, as needed, to ensure a systematic review of the Design & Construction Contractor’s records of testing, inspection and acceptance is conducted
  • Assist the Owner’s Representative technical (design) with the development and completion of submittal compliance checklists
  • In coordination with the Program Quality Manager, develop and report on the status of key quality performance indicators and report on quality trends analysis
  • Preparation of quality reports summaries and making any necessary recommendations for improvement
  • Assist with tracking and reporting of nonconformance status and their associated noncompliance points
  • Assist with preparation of training material and deliver quality training
  • Perform various submittals reviews, including reviews of Nonconformance Reports

Project Delivery Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of ISO requirements, particularly ISO 9001:2015 and quality management auditing
  • Fundamental understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Procedure writing, process improvement
  • Strong report writing and advanced MX Excel and database knowledge
  • Procedure writing, process improvement
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • AS degree
  • 5 years quality assurance experience
  • 5 years construction related experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills to deal with complex, multi-disciplinary issues involving Third Party agencies, governments, and other stakeholders
  • Auditor certification

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • 5 years of experience in P3 construction infrastructure projects
  • 5 years of experience assisting the development of quality management systems and lead auditing
  • BS Degree Engineering or Architecture
