Under general supervision of the General Manager, the Quality Improvement Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the Environmental and Quality Management Systems policies and procedures are developed, understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of the organization for the purpose of continuous /continual improvement and in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or applicable ISO and/or customer standards and requirements.WHY JOIN OUR TEAM?

Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Environmental Management Representative to develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures associated with the ISO/ANSI 14001 environmental standard and safety requirements
- Works closely with management and departmental personnel at all levels to monitor and ensure quality system processes are operating in conformance to the Gleason Cutting Tools management system manual, documented policies, procedures, work instructions, and technical standards
- Coordinates and conducts general, specific, and functional training related to the successful operation of the environmental and quality management systems
- Coordinates and conducts internal quality, environmental, supplier, and vendor audits
- Coordinates and ensures the overall operational effectiveness of the Gleason Cutting Tools continual improvement program (CIT)
- Coordinates and conducts regular management reviews of the environmental and quality management systems
- Applies statistical control techniques as applicable and appropriate
- Acts as a liason with external parties on matters concerning the environmental and quality management system as well as in the completion of external and customer audits
- Achieve and maintain registration and certification to ISO 9001, 14001, or applicable ISO and / or customer standards and requirements
- Organize and conduct internal audits to determine whether quality and / or environmental activities have been effectively implemented and have satisfied company objectives
- Establish and manage the completion of corrective action plans resulting from the internal audits
- Monitor management system performance, including KPI and quality goal performance
- Issue and monitor OSARs to ensure corrective action is taken to address process and system failures
- Coach and conduct regular meetings with Managers and Supervisors to identify true root causes and ensure effective corrective measures are documented and established
- Contract with accredited services to train employees in such areas of quality, planning, the basics of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or applicable ISO and / or customer standards and requirements, Quality/Environmental management system, metrology, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, statistical and analytical techniques to solve problems and promote continuous improvement and other management system related needs
- Function as a team leader for the recording, prioritization, distribution, scheduling, and overall operational effectiveness of the GCTC continual improvement team/program (CIT)
- Maintain records of management system including training, calibration, vendor audits, customer audits, internal audits, material goods returned, customer complaints, nonconforming product analysis, shipping audits, continuous improvement teams progress, and Gleason Business Philosophy metrics
- Function as a facilitator, host, and scribe for the global Quality Management Team (QMT) and attend / host onsite team meetings when necessary
- Manage, maintain, and monitor the performance of the gage calibration system, document control system, and DocuWare
- Administer the implementation of quality principles at all levels
- Manage and monitor the performance of material goods return system
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Quality related studies preferred. In lieu of degree, 5 years of Manufacturing / Quality Management experience within a metal working environment and a minimum of 3 years of related Quality and / or Engineering experience
- ASQC Quality Engineer certification preferred. ISO / ANSI 9001 / 14001 training and qualified Internal Lead Auditor
- Environmental, health, and safety knowledge; including 14001, hazard communication, and safety training
- Working knowledge of quality / environmental principles including ISO / ANSI standards, SPC, control charts, design of experiments, value analysis, pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, capabilities indexes, gage R&R studies, benchmarking, failure mode & effect analysis, process flow diagrams, and reliability and maintainability analysis
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing principles including Computer Aided Design (CAD), computer aided engineering, metrology, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), trigonometry, and metal working processes
