MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in an ISO9001 manufacturing environment or equivalent QMS
  • Experience with quality concepts, metrics, and problem-solving methodologies, including: Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Root Cause Corrective Action/CAPA processes (internal/vendor/customer), COPQ analysis & reduction, RMA Failure Analysis
  • Microsoft Office suite in the generation of professional documents and reports

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S Electrical Engineering a plus.
  • Program or project management
  • Experience in Minitab and or statistical data analysis
  • 6-Sigma Green Belt
  • Experience with TipQA® and Infor®. or ERP systems
  • ISO9001and/or AS9100 Lead Auditor
  • AS9102 FAI report creation and review
  • APQP and AIAG or IAQG PPAP product development and validation processes
  • RMA/Failure Analysis

ABOUT THE JOB!
The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to utilize analytical techniques and quality methodologies, with minimal supervision, to monitor and improve the performance of Gentex products, and QMS (Quality Management System) processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills including the ability to work on many projects simultaneously

  • Ability to interpret customer quality requirements and product drawings, schematics, specifications, etc.
  • Team focused with the ability to participate in and lead cross-function teams.
  • Professional stature with strong oral and written presentation skills; the ability to influence others.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 FAI, APQP and PPAP a plus.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 a plus
  • LEAN experience a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead by example to ensure compliance to the QMS; improve the QMS as required.
  • Support Supply Chain as needed to improve quality of vendor supplied material.
  • Implement tools and processes to ensure new suppliers are prepared and have robust plans to deliver first time quality.
  • Design, implement and evaluate quality assurance processes and sampling techniques.
  • Determination and documentation of incoming test and inspection plans, including sampling plans.
  • Perform technical (product) and systemic failure analysis, as required.
  • Work with all departments to support process improvements, increase process yields and reduce COPQ.
  • Lead and support QMS management review meetings, as required
  • Lead and support customer, internal and supplier audits
  • Lead, review and approve the first article inspection reports.
  • Attend, participate, and present at meetings at all levels within the organization.
  • Conduct training on Quality concepts, tools, and methodologies, as required.
  • Create new documents and modify existing procedures.
  • Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
