Monarch NC, a provider of high-quality and trauma-informed care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders, is seeking an experienced Qualified Mental Health Professional to join our team in Gastonia, NC.

The Qualified Mental Health Professional will provide clinically-based supports to individuals with a mental health or substance abuse issue to achieve their personal dreams and goals of restoring what they define as their natural function within their community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides psychoeducation as indicated in the PCP.
  • Assists the Team Leader with behavioral and substance use disorder treatment interventions.
  • Assists with the development of relapse prevention and disease management strategies.
  • Develops and/ or participates in the initial development, implementation, and ongoing revision of the PCP, and ensures its implementation.
  • Consults with identified medical (i.e., primary care and psychiatric) and non-medical providers, engages community and natural supports, and includes their input in the person-centered planning process.
  • Ensures linkage to the most clinically appropriate and effective services including arranging for psychological and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Provides intensive case management.
  • Facilitate a debriefing session following each crisis event for the purpose of making necessary changes to the PCP or crisis plan in an effort to prevent future occurrences of similar crisis.
  • Assist with beneficiary housing search including engaging landlords to rent to beneficiaries and writing reasonable accommodation letters.
  • Assist in developing daily living skills to stabilize and maintain housing.
  • Monitor utilization of services and ensure agency provides services consistent with authorization for each individual supported.
  • Drive and travel extensively to community locations, various agencies, and other outreach destinations. Provide and/or arrange for transportation for transportation for people supported as required.
  • Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

To qualify, candidates must have the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field is required.
  • Must have at least one of the following North Carolina licenses or certifications: QP or QMHP.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, mental health issues or substance abuse issues.
  • A valid Driver's License is also required.
