QSE Manager
Health & Safety Manager – US & Canada
Reports To
The QSE Manager will report to the VP of Operations.
Job Overview
The QSE Manager will manage and supervise field personnel and QSE specialists to ensure compliance with QSE policies, programs, procedures, and legislative standards. The QSE Manager will communicate and contribute to the development of programs, conduct onsite QSE audits and inspections and provide recommendations for improving QSE performance. The QSE Manager will ensure that all personnel and employees are informed of safe working procedures and practices so that they can fulfill their responsibilities and will manage required compliance activities, including the implementation legislation and Sky Climber QSE requirements and standards. This role has the potential to be remote but preferred in person at Sky Climber Renewables training facility in Delaware, OH.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Identify gaps in current safety program and work closely with team stake holders to implement changes for continuous improvement.
- Ensure safety program and training documentation is current with industry and contractual standards.
- Apply all health and safety codes, regulations, laws and policies pertaining to the company Health and Safety Management System.
- Identify gaps in training and develop plan to implement training throughout company
- Develop and implement safety strategies and training programs (policy and field.)
- Assist with online LMS (Learning Management System) programs.
- Perform routine in person site audits to ensure compliance and increase safety awareness.
- Organize remote inspections and audits to determine opportunities for improvement
- Develop and implement periodic safety campaigns.
- Champion and lead the safety committee and Safety All-Calls.
- Meet with customers to report, discuss and reinforce organizational safety program and performance.
- Assist with maintaining vendor QSE approval systems
- Determine best method for root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure all QSE specialists and SC team members are properly trained and following the process.
- Lead incident investigations and RCA. Implement and track corrective actions amongst all Sky Climber employees.
- Review and reporting of KPIs and safety performance statistics to Senior and Executive Management.
- Assist training instructor(s) with all safety and compliance training
- Lead and manage Safety Observation program
- Manage online SDS program
- Able to complete company/industry standard safety training as necessary (i.e. self-rescue and/or high-angle rescue, confined space, CPR/First aid, NFPA-70E, HAZOM, Material Handling, etc.)
- Able to safely climb 300ft ladder systems in wind turbine generators for purpose of hands-on participation in audits, inspections, and work evaluation.
- Able to wear the appropriate PPE and PFP for industry services performed.

Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or Occupational Health:
- Experience or interest in renewable energy preferred
- Work from an office or travel extensively to multiple sites or company locations
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in EHS leadership or supervisory role
- Possess excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and problem solve with ease
- Maintain excellent written, oral and computer communication skills to convey information to employees, managers and customers
- Valid Driver’s License and passport
- Ability to make decisions and work independently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, interpersonal skills and verbal communication
- Strong computer skills (Windows™ software)
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities
- Ability to discern and appropriately communicate sensitive issues
- Up to 50% Travel as required.
