UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a QA Engineer/ Automated Tester for a remote position in Albany, NY. Applicants who can do a hybrid schedule in Albany, NY are preferred.

Position: QA staff will need to perform multiple types of mission critical system application testing for the system (including but not limited to system, end-to-end, automated, performance, smoke, regression, black box, white box, and usability) to ensure the quality of the system being developed.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Working experience in automation testing (such as HP UFT) developing and executing automation test scripts. Experience must detail the use of specific automation tools and processes/methods used to create automated tests from manual functional tests.
• Working experience in performance testing tools (such as Load Runner) developing and executing performance test scripts.
• Experience with testing (including but not limited to system, regression, end to end integration, automated, performance, smoke, black box, white box, and fail over tests), troubleshooting and issue resolution and experience with application support, detailed technical documentation, and on call support.
• Experience working directly with business analysts, program subject matter experts, and technical staff to create robust test plans / test cases for web applications.
• Working experience creating, developing, managing, and executing functional test and regression test scripts; developing generic reusable functions and scripts.
• Working experience performing application testing based on written test scripts, and documenting, tracking and communicating defects utilizing HP ALM.
• Working experience with the requirements, test plan, test lab, and defect module within ALM, including customization and administration of ALM.
• Programming languages experiences in PL/SQL, SQL, Java, VB, .Net, HTML, TSL, PHP, VB Script.
• ITSQB certification.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

• Work directly with business analysts, program subject matter experts and technical staff to create robust test plans in HP ALM for web applications.
• Perform testing (System, End-to-End Integration, Automated, Performance, Smoke, Black Box, White Box, Usability, and Fail-Over tests), including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Work with automation testing HP UFT, QTP (Quick Test Pro), and/or Win Runner; recording and scripting automated functional tests; lead in building UFT automated Scripting Framework for New York Business Exchange (NYBE) platform.
• Perform application testing based on written test scripts; create, manage and execute functional test and regression test scripts. Document, track, research, test, and communicate defects using HP ALM. Write and execute test plans in HP ALM.
• Perform software Black Box and White Box testing and debugging in different phases of software development life cycle.
• Develop scripts for Regression Testing Automation tools and Performance Testing Automation tools.
• Work with performance testing tools like Load Runner, Astra Load Test to perform load, performance, and break testing.
• Develop generic reusable functions and scripts.
• Providing mission critical applications support and be on call as required.
• Developing an understanding of Java code, VB Script, review and debugging issues.
• Developing and monitoring scripts to track the server connectivity issues.
• Providing recommendations on regular basis for any Performance enhancement.
• Interpret programming languages such as PL/SQL, SQL, Java, VB, .Net, HTML, TSL, PHP, VB Script.
• Designing, developing, implementing, and optimization of the Application architecture to improve performance.
• Writing shell scripting languages on Unix Platform.
• Developing detailed technical documentation.
• Develop an understanding of NYS OCM system and gain expertise to provide support.
• Working creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Participate in technical meetings and support calls.
• Communicate skillfully, both in oral and written form, work well with team members and communicate with agencies effectively.
