Purchasing - Automotive Parts Manufacturing Manager
Job description
Automotive industry purchasing experience is required.
- Responsible for selecting appropriate suppliers.
- Responsible for fair pricing of purchased items.
- Responsible for maintaining proper purchasing processes.
- Responsible for purchasing materials in appropriate quantity and timely manner to keep production activities well.
- Responsible for responding to internal and external quality-related requests (complaints, audits, PPAP, etc.).
- Responsible for the smooth operation of the team.
- Purchasing of raw materials, components, equipment, and machinery, provides guidance and assistance for contracted services.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
- Determines methods of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains manual or computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with vendors and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of procurement risk management, including related laws and regulations, and contracts.
- Market, material, and cost knowledge.
- Supplier negotiation.
- Knowledge of the company's products and production processes overview.
- Vendor evaluation and selection knowledge (including credit management and vendor audit).
- Purchasing budget management skills.
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, e-mail, DDL, EDI, ASN, and inventory management software.
- Strong management and supervisory skills.
- B.A. or B.S. in a management-related field.
- 5-10 years of manufacturing experience at a supervisory or management level.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for eight hours, talk, and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands to feel or handle, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
