Business Need / Purpose of Role:

Under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor, the centrifugal pump/valve mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing centrifugal pumps and valves at the Deer Park location.

Objectives & Measurement:

• Maintain, repair, and install centrifugal pumps and related equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with pump systems
• Perform routine maintenance on pumps/valves, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment
• Repair or replace worn or damaged pump/valve components, such as seals, bearings, and impellers
• Use hand tools and specialized diagnostic equipment to perform repairs
• Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment when working on pumps
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions and technical manuals to perform repairs and installations
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities
• Communicate with customers and team members about pump issues and repairs
• To be a successful centrifugal pump/valve mechanic, you will need to have strong mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. You should also be able to read and understand technical drawings and manuals. Some employers may require a degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or formal training in pump/valve repair and maintenance
• Maintain workplace in neat and orderly condition
• Observe all safety and ISO 9001/14001 Requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned\

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• Proficient in the assembly of all types of pumps and valves as determined by the Supervisor.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the assembly, repair, and maintenance of all pump and valves

Language:

Ability to read, and write.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Basic Computer Knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

The work may require considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of heavy objects < 50 pounds. The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g. working around moving parts, moving equipment (i.e. forklifts, overhead cranes), rotating equipment or machines. Routine use of personal protective equipment is required and adherence to all safety precautions.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
