City of The current annual salary range for the position of the Maintenance Worker I/II is $32,219.46 to $48,793.94 plus an excellent benefits package which includes, but is not limited to education/certification incentive program, merit program, 9/80 work schedule, boot allowance
and Workers’ Compensation Bonus. Placement within this range is dependent on qualifications.
The City provides the following benefits:
Holidays: 14 paid holidays per year
Vacation Leave: 12 days of paid vacation leave during year one, increasing to 15 days in year two,
increasing thereafter dependent on years of service.
Sick Leave: 13 days of paid sick leave per year
Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance: The City offers excellent Medical, Dental and Vision
Insurance. Employee currently pays $30 per month for a 90/10 plan and receives medical, dental and
vision coverage for employee, spouse, and eligible dependents. Medical insurance deductible of $150
(individual), and $450 (family), annual maximum out of pocket $3,000 (individual) and $6,000 (family).
Retirement: The City participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
For legacy members, the benefit level is 3% @60, employee share is 8%, paid by employees. For new
members, the benefit level is 2% @62 , employee share is 6.25%, paid by the employee.
Group Life Insurance: $25,000 group life insurance for each employee at no cost
Deferred Compensation: voluntary plans available
IRS Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan available
9/80 Work Schedule
$200 Annual Boot Allowance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Additional Experience or Ability To:
- Works directly with crew in the
construction, maintenance and repair of
the City’s water, geothermal, natural gas
and street divisions;
- Observes safe work methods and safety
practices related to the work being
performed or tools and equipment used;
- Does the routine work of excavating
trenches and backfilling;
- Operates hand, air, and power tools in
skilled and unskilled work;
- Operates light and medium-sized
construction and power equipment, such as
crew trucks, dump trucks, pickups,
backhoe/ loaders , t renchers , a i r
compressors, air tools, and knows the
proper and safe use of safety equipment;
- Keeps tools and equipment in a safe and
clean working condition;
- Does general cleanup work;
- Responds to emergency calls after normal
duty hours as required;
- Follows oral and written instructions;
- Has been qualified in the proper
procedures to shutoff or turn-on water.
Geothermal and natural gas meters (lvl II);
- Must be able to identify leaks and test for
the accuracy in water, geothermal and gas
meters (lvl II);
- Can test, read, repair or replace meters in
water, geothermal and natural gas (lvl II);
- Can maintain records of water, geothermal,
gas or street operations and/or daily work
being performed (lvl II);
- Perform other duties as needed and
assigned.

Maintenance Worker I/II to perform a
variety of duties in maintenance, repair and
construction of City water, geothermal,
natural gas, street and storm drainage
facilities while supervised.

Preferred qualifications:
- Completion of formal or informal education
sufficient to assure the ability to read and
write at a level required for successful job
performance.
Required for Level II:
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years
hands on experience in the operations of
construction, maintenance and repair
procedures of water, geothermal, natural gas
or street operations.
- Must complete a Competent Person
Training class
Licenses/Certificates:
- Level I: Valid California Driver’s license and
a Class A Certification or ability to obtain
Class A within 12 months
- Level II: Valid California Driver’s license
and a Class A Certification
