Muhlenberg Township, Berks County, PA is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Public Works Laborer.

Truck Driver/Laborers perform a wide variety of maintenance service, repair, and minor construction functions to streets, bridges, public buildings, infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Participate in repair, maintenance and reconstruction of township infrastructure and equipment including; streets, bridges, public buildings and vehicles.

· Repair potholes, cracks, bumps and sink holes

· Working with concrete; including, forming, pouring and curbing for sidewalk installation

· Operate manual and power equipment including; jackhammer, chainsaws, dump truckers, backhoes and front end loaders

· Complete snow removal on roadways and sidewalks

· Clean, maintain and repair storm sewer systems

· Perform light electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs

· Organize and clean work areas

Requirements:

· Knowledge of tools used in construction and maintenance

· Knowledge of light, medium and heavy operating procedures

· Thorough knowledge of construction, maintenance and repair practices and procedures for buildings and roadways.

· Experience operating manual and power tools

· Ability to lift heavy objects of up to 50lbs and occasional lifting over 50lbs

· Ability to perform physical labor, manual tasks or operate equipment for extended periods of time

· Ability to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions

· Ability to work overtime as needed

· Preferably has a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B or able to obtain a CDL within 6 months from accepting employment is required

· Heavy equipment operator experience is a plus

This is a union position.

Starting Rate: $21.15 increasing to $26.44 per hour after probationary period.
