Mosaic Materials is an Alameda, CA based business developing a carbon capture technology to address global warming and climate change through direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide. Role Description

Mosaic Materials is looking for a creative and self-directed Prototype Data Engineer to accelerate development of our unique sorbent technology. Mosaic is constantly building and improving our laboratory and prototype devices for testing our carbon capture process. This person will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks related to streamlining sensor/data collection, processing and analysis across Mosaic’s existing and future prototype devices. Working closely with the Characterization and Engineering teams, the candidate will streamline data processing and analysis to enable data-driven decision-making.

Key Functions
*

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and deploy dashboards and GUIs for visualizing processed data
  • Design, develop and maintain internal data processing pipelines
  • Develop user-friendly applications for technical teams to upload data into cloud-based storage solutions
  • Run statistical analyses on data and communicate with cross-functional teams to aid future experiments
  • Develop tools for users to automate complex experimental and analysis routines

Preferred Background and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial research and development experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Python including common scientific computing packages such as numpy and pandas.
  • Extensive experience architecting, debugging, and executing complex SQL queries
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining AWS cloud (EC2, S3, EKS cluster).
  • Familiarity with BI and data science tools such as Tableau and Superset.
  • Experience in utilizing data lake platforms such as Dremio
  • Ability to work independently upon several high priority workflows with efficient communication of progress and results
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and GSuite.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in developing web applications using Flask.
  • Experience in using methods, tools and packages for statistical modeling and machine learning.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Position may be subject to US export control under ITAR or EAR.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
