If you are an Engineer who is passionate about renewable energy, sustainability, and being an instrumental part of the transition to clean energy, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you. In this role, you will lead the creation of highly competitive and strategic proposals for North America renewable energy and water treatment control systems. You will have overall accountability to architect solutions from both a technical and commercial perspective, encompassing written proposals and accompanying cost estimates. This role will be supporting our Power and Water Solutions business.
As a Proposal Engineer, you will:
- Ensure that all aspects of proposal preparation and approvals are performed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare control system proposals in response to customer requests, including interpretation of specifications and drawings.
- Support customer site visits, walk-downs, and presentations.
- Develop best-cost solutions to meet customer needs.
- Formulate pre-qualification submittals and supporting marketing collateral.
- Effectively present costs, risks, and differentiators to key decision makers.
- Review purchase orders to ensure they accurately reflect our proposed scope.
- Provide support in the development of the commercial proposal strategy that mitigates project commercial risk exposure and best positions the execution team to allow scope and profitability growth.

Required education, experience & skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical or equivalent
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
- Knowledgeable in controls and PLC/DCS/SCADA technologies, industrial networking, instrumentation, and processes associated with renewable energy and water treatment plants
- Experience in writing proposals and developing cost estimates
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred education, experience & skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
- Five (5) years of renewable energy and/or water and wastewater treatment industry experience. Specific experience in the hydroelectric power industry is preferred
- Five (5) years related experience in control system engineering and proposals
Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option
The position offers location flexibility through our hybrid remote work policy, which allows for up to 3 days per week of remote work and 2 days per week in the office at either our Pittsburgh, PA headquarters office, or one of the following satellite locations:
