Occupational Summary:
The Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for the conception, design, and execution of all marketing and branding materials for the Duke Arts brand and initiatives. The Graphic Designs Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and will be a key partner in an upcoming rebrand initiative for Duke Arts.

Responsibilities include:
  • Define and develop Duke Arts visual brand in collaboration with brand consultants, the Director of Marketing and Communications, and the Vice Provost for the Arts; articulate & document that brand for colleagues, collaborators and all layers of our community.
  • Design printed and digital materials for Duke Arts including, but not limited to, season brochures, advertisements (print & digital), postcards, banners, show programs, posters & miscellaneous other promotion.
  • Maintain all visual elements of Duke Arts websites, updating content as-needed.
  • Manage Duke Arts e-mail marketing templates, ensuring accurate delivery of visual materials working with e-mail marketing vendors to ensure efficient delivery of our desired look.
  • Coordinate photo & video documentation of many selected Duke Arts with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator.
  • Provide design direction to freelance graphic designers and design agencies if the volume of work requires assistance from outside. (determined in conjunction with Director of Marketing & Communications)
  • Work with Duke Procurement Services to secure best rates & highest quality on Duke Arts print materials and oversee the distribution of print marketing materials.
  • Perform other assigned duties incidental to the work described herein.
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills
Work requires an elevated aesthetic sensibility, a knowledge of the performing arts, an expert facility with typography & a wide ranging mastery of visual styles; these skills are generally acquired through completion of bachelor's degree in either design or studio arts. Seeking a candidate with at least3-5 years design experience, including work on 40+ page booklets/brochures, multi-platform marketing campaigns & demonstrated engagement with the performing arts. Candidate ought to have experience working as part of a collaborative team. Required: Mastery of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator &Lightroom. Working knowledge of WordPress, HTML &CSS. Desired: Experience/Interest in digital photography & video.

Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
