Job description
Telstar Instruments is seeking an experienced Project Manager who can work independently and as part of a team to manage water, wastewater, and industrial projects for planning, design and construction. The successful candidate will be motivated and growth oriented with the ability to manage projects from planning through completion. The ideal candidate will have engineering and construction experience in the electrical and instrumentation & controls fields. You will manage multiple projects of various sizes at one time. You will mentor junior staff and provide client support for your projects.
Qualifications:
Must have minimum 5-years experience in the water/wastewater municipal industry, experience must be within the last 10 years.
The successful candidate should have technical and project management expertise in the field of electrical and controls planning, design and construction for water, wastewater, and industrial projects. The candidate should be highly detail oriented and have an in-depth understanding of financial management and budget maintenance; maintain project schedules with Microsoft Project; recognize scope and develop mitigation measures; and have excellent verbal and writing skills.
- 10+ years of engineering/project management experience in electrical and controls fields.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
Expectations:
- Manage project and proposal efforts to meet client and company goals, with particular focus on scope, schedule, budget management, quality, and risk management.
- Manage project loads of up to 15 projects with project budgets up to $5 million.
- Work with the project team to develop quotations, scopes of work, schedules, cost estimates and bids.
- Review contract documents from clients for quoted and bid work.
· Work with engineering, electrical construction, and other internal departments to plan, organize and direct project activities.
· Work with subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and vendors to complete project work.
· Monitor and control projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.
· Prepare general project submittals. Develop project schedule and status reports for internal and external use.
- Communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project stakeholders, and your internal project team.
· Obtain electrical and building permits as needed. Ensure team follows the requirements of the permits.
- Attend client pre-bid and project meetings to represent the project team.
· Travel to client offices and job worksites is required. Travel will typically be in Northern and Central California.
- Assist and mentor junior staff to successfully complete project assignments.
· Work with accounts receivable for invoicing and payment on projects.
· Provide technical assistance in developing quotations and bidding work.
· Follow up with clients to obtain feedback and address customer issues.
