POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
This position is responsible for efficiently designing, testing, implementing, and completing projects while meeting project specifications and budget requirements. As a Project Engineer I, you will work in areas of project implementation including panel design, hardware selection, programming, testing, and site support. You will work with relay and PLC based control panel designs including schematics, panel layouts, and bill of material. You will perform design analysis including fuse sizing, breaker sizing, wire sizing, and short circuit analysis. You will perform in-shop testing and field startups, and you will support Project Management, Sales, Receiving, Drafting, Documentation, Purchasing, Production and Shipping.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
- Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
- Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications using division/industry standards and best practices.
- Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform “3-Way Check” of Control Panel Drawings.
- Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
- Technical document writing including Testing Procedures, Training Plans and Sequence of Operations.
- Notify Project Managers and Group Managers of schedule/budget goals issues.
- Request quotes from vendors and verify quoted equipment meets specification requirements.
- Provide customers with technical support via phone, remote access and onsite service.
- Attend training and continuing education related to industry.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
- Entry Level to Three (3) years of related work experience in related field.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
- Self-motivated and have the ability to design, write and test software and provide hardware services for small projects with significant supervision.
- Knowledge and experience with specialized tools and test equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.
