General Purpose of Job
A Project Engineer will apply developing technical expertise to solve simple problems, focused design tasks, and project management skills to provide oversight of work in a specific area of developing expertise, with close supervision. A Project Engineer is expected to develop skills and abilities in their field of study and work with some degree of independence.

Currently enrolled and pursuing a four-year degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program

Experience with or knowledge of: GE Design Manager or similar design/drawing aids (Auto-CAD, PLS-CAD)

Experience or similar work with an electric utility or related industry.

May consider four (4) years of equivalent industry experience without the degree.
Other Requirements
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines, telephone, and fax machine.
- Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.
- Normal work hours shall be eight (8) hours between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
Driving Requirements
A Valid Florida Driver's License

- Ability to maintain confidential information, and effectively manage stress and pressure in a frequently changing environment; ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in all situations.
- Computer proficiency with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn GE Design Manager and other computer systems applicable to the position.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills including written, verbal and listening to effectively interact with employees, managers, vendors, subcontractors, government agencies and the public; ability to prepare concise reports and documents; work independently and in a team environment to complete assignments with a high degree of accuracy, with attention to detail and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service orientation; ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments; ability to exercise good judgement, sound reasoning skills and discretion in making independent decisions commensurate with responsibilities.
- Strong math skills and knowledge of electrical calculations
- English is the primary business language. Second language in Spanish is desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Create simple and similar designs for overhead and underground service extension projects.- Assist in line design activities to include engineering field work relating to overhead and underground distribution facilities; underground distribution subdivision facilities; multi-phase line extension; reliability enhancement and construction work plan projects.
- Input design data into design software, prepare project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for various installations in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability.
- Regularly communicate job status to assure client expectations and deliverables dates are met.
Demonstrate the ability to properly apply various codes, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures to all assigned work.- Demonstrate the ability to learn utility construction practices on public right of way (ROW) and private land.
- Develop skills to safely make job-site visits and interact with construction personnel, members and other project stakeholders.
- Develop skills to accurately evaluate loading on distribution equipment such as transformers & fusing.
- Mentored under experienced personnel, supervision, management, and PE.
