The JCA Director of Programming is responsible for developing and overseeing delivery of all adult and family engagement programming. The Director will work with the Programming Committee and staff throughout the JCA to develop programming that speaks to the needs and interests of both the Jewish and the broader community, including wellness/fitness activities and social, cultural, and educational programs. The Director will help to raise the profile of the agency and attract increasing numbers of people to its offerings.

The Director of Programming will be an energetic, organized, engaging individual willing to take initiative and work effectively to connect with people throughout the JCA community. The individual will have a strong knowledge of Judaism and a willingness to develop relationships across a diverse array of community partners. They will be visionary, approachable, able to work independently, and able to handle multiple priorities and the challenges of event management.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing and in concert with other staff, implementing a broad array of JCA programming, including but not limited to:
  • A variety of more formally structured educational, social, and cultural programs and events that serve multiple groups (adults, children, families, etc.)
  • Managing the development of adult arts & culture and adult education offerings, including registration, selection of instructors, and logistics.
  • Programs designed for interfaith families and those new to Judaism.
  • Supervising the PJ Library Coordinator.
  • Less formal programs to bring people together at the JCA, including but not limited to:
  • Clubs and groups (e.g., Mahjongg, Torah study, book clubs)
  • Socials/hangouts for different demographic groups.
  • Regular community meals or gatherings
  • Wellness activities for different ages, e.g., Basketball/Pickleball/Volleyball/Yoga
  • Other dynamic programs offered on a regular schedule (cooking, crafting, mending, film screening)
  • Working closely with Volunteer Manager to help guide, support, staff, and promote volunteer opportunities in the programming department.
  • Implementing a programming plan, including budgets, registration processes, and event management.
  • Actively engaging with community organizations and individuals on a regular basis to coordinate programming and serving as a resource and liaison and convening bi-annual community organization meetings.
  • Strengthening ties with other JCC's, Federations, and area organizations to develop new programming ideas and opportunities to collaborate.
  • Assessing the effectiveness of events, classes, and programs through annual survey and attendance data. Make changes to programming based on the data.
  • Working with other departments, including marketing and development, to promote programs, plan for financial growth, and increase participation and attendance.


This is a full-time, exempt position, with a salary of $62,000-$67,000 per year. Benefits include paid time off, programmatic discounts, partially employer subsidized health insurance and employer paid dental insurance and short and long-term disability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic, skilled, and motivated individual who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • A strong knowledge of Jewish learning, art, culture, denominational history, and other aspects of Jewish life.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to engage and make connections with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to work closely with others in a team environment or on their own and effectively interact with all levels of management, community leaders, donors, and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, make sound decisions independently, and to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written communications skills.
  • B.A. required and 3 years of experience in this or a related field or position of significant responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, Zoom/online programming; familiarity with Neon CRM preferred.

62000-67000
