The Program Specialist will support the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative program opportunities and materials for girls' ages 5-17. Programs are designed to meet identified girl and leader needs, which form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement current and relevant GSUSA programs, incorporating the Girl Scout Leadership Experience philosophy, that empowers, engages, and meets the interest of girl members.
- Develop and implement program related events and meetings.
- Partner with the program team to develop annual plans and events for program expansion.
- Cultivate and build community partnerships and relationships with businesses and other organizations to support program objectives and delivery.
- Conduct assessments of the needs and interests of girls as a basis for program development.
- Collaborate with other departments and staff, volunteers and community partners to market and promote upcoming programming.
- Represent Girl Scouts in the community through in person presentations and participation in community events and groups.
- Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
- Ability to effectively implement programs and plans; excellent presentation and project management skills
- Strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and rapport with staff and volunteers
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple competing and changing priorities or events; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Thorough understanding of child development and ability to develop and deliver age appropriate program.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the changing needs of girls.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and prior success working effectively in a team environment.
- Appreciation of diversity and community based needs and ability to develop and implement effective programs for those groups.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and excellent public speaking skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive and travel as required
- Must have belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, and aware of the needs of girls in our pluralistic society.
