Principal Responsibilities


This role involves coordination of activities that span geographic areas and programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working in conjunction with senior managers, review and refresh LISC’s internal communications strategy to ensure that it is consistent with the organization’s strategic vision.
  • Work in conjunction with the DEIJ department to develop, deliver and strengthen DEIJ communication efforts to build awareness and cultivate a culture of connectivity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
  • Ensure internal communications foster an inclusive environment of transparent understanding aimed at making staff feel informed and connected to the overall mission and goals of the organization.
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums (especially LISC intranet Jostle).
  • Support internal change management by supporting communication and coordination around operational changes.
  • Participate in departmental check-ins to capture programmatic and operational priorities.
  • Produce dashboards of activity across the network to support communications and planning efforts.
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent across departments and aligned with external communications.
  • Participate in developing internal response to sensitive or crisis events and situations, which affect organizational perception and reputation.
  • Support senior leadership in measuring employee engagement and developing strategies to support connectivity and culture.
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.

Qualifications


This job involves extensive interaction with representatives of a wide variety of corporate and private philanthropies, evaluators, community representatives, LISC staff and other institutional partners. It also entails significant planning, coordination, writing and editing assignments. Therefore, demonstrated interpersonal, writing, editing and organizational skills are critical. Other qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree in public administration, information studies, communications, marketing, journalism, business administration or relevant field and at least three years of work experience are preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' work-related experience in communications, public relations, journalism or community development work.
  • Experience in community development or related program management is a plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees.
  • Strong presentation skills to succinctly articulate strategy and implementation steps to leadership and staff.
  • Sensitivity to an organization’s goals and values and the ability to relay information to employees effectively.
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with various departments.
  • Ability to devise communication strategies.
  • Digital skills: Familiarity with information technology, especially digital means of communication, is essential.
  • Capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects and set priorities for a challenging workload.

Compensation

LISC offers a competitive salary (70K - 86K; salary commensurate with relevant work experience) and excellent fringe benefits.
