Program Director, Youth Enrichment

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Youth Enrichment Family Regional Director, the Program Director will be responsible for direct hands-on program development, implementation, and evaluation for the association's parent/child programs and events. The program director will also have responsibility with planning and preparations for the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh’s summer day camp programs, and providing direct on-site leadership to a summer day camp location. The program director will ensure that all programs run smoothly and safely. The program director is responsible for integrating the policies, procedures, best practices and standards for high quality programs determined by the YMCA standards of quality. The incumbent will serve on relevant Association committees to enhance leadership skills and youth enrichment programs. This position will require evening, weekends, and overnight shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Promote and market, operate and administer all operations including direct service of the Youth Enrichment program(s)
- Recruit, screen, hire, develop, train, supervise and evaluate part time summer camp employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Leads with customer service as a priority
- Assures the Youth Enrichment programs have well-planned member and volunteer recruitment and retention plans.
- Evaluates current programs and participation to expand or discontinue programs based on customer satisfaction.
- Works with local branches to ensure consistent communication to current and new members about the parent/child programs.
- Develop and maintain strong parent, volunteer and staff relationships to support the everyday operations, special activities, and quality improvement.
- Ensures child safety. May assist in the maintenance of a clean and safe facility.
- Honor the confidentiality of information.
- Supports branch fundraising initiatives by actively contributing to, educating on and raising projected goal for the Annual Campaign.
- Wears Y uniform or nametag and appropriate attire (if applicable)
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to educate and motivate staff, members, volunteers and community about YMCA mission.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google and Social Media.
- Possess sensitivity, flexibility, strong character, good judgment, and a positive attitude toward job and colleagues.
- Hours vary depending on need, including weekends and evenings.
- Local travel required and occasional long distance travel for training and special events.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a human service field, elementary education, early childhood or child development preferred
- The incumbent is required to maintain CPR (infant, child, adult), First Aid and AED.
- Skills in the area of programming for children, group work and staff supervision, budget control and working with lay committees are required.
- Complete the New Employee Orientation
- All employees must have required clearances prior to the first day of work and must disclose and be approved for any outside employment relationships.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand in excess of 15 minutes at a time; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. While in this position, incumbent must use universal precautions as repeated contact with bodily fluids and wastes is commonplace when changing diapers, feeding and comforting infants. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is typically moderate, but can be occasionally loud.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
