Summary: Provide administrative organization and leadership for both the High-Risk Team and Advocacy and Legal Services Program. The Coordinator will facilitate the multi-disciplinary collaborative team in developing case-specific plans to interrupt the cycle of escalating violence and minimize the risk of further abuse. The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring ongoing DALE training with TCSO. The DVHRT Coordinator will coordinate and facilitate Domestic Violence Education for new members of the team along with DALE training. The Coordinator will be responsible for holding DVHR-Team members responsible for their duties within their roles including those in superior positions.
Responsibilities:
Meeting Preparation and Facilitation:
- Create and provide meeting agendas and all necessary documentation prior to DVHRT and Community Legal Services meetings.
- Ensure that new cases are presented to the DVHRT when appropriate and assist FSTC advocates in the preparation of new cases for presentation to the DVHRT.
- Ensure that minutes/attendance are taken at every meeting and are provided to DVHRT members in a timely manner. ·
- Facilitate a meeting of all partner organizations at least annually to evaluate how effectively the DVHRT is functioning. Case Coordination and Advocacy: ·
- Ensure that current, active high-risk cases are monitored and reviewed regularly. Ensure that ongoing case updates are provided to DVHRT members between meetings when necessary and ensure that there is a process for accepting cases between meetings. ·
- Assist FSTC advocates in coordinating necessary victims’ services for cases accepted to the DVHRT. ·
- Act as a liaison between the advocate(s) assigned to accepted cases and the DVHRT, ensuring that information is passed quickly and efficiently between the DVHRT, the advocate(s) and the victim. Operations and Communications: ·
- Develop policies and practices that encourage smooth team operation and improve the domestic violence response system. ·
- Develop and maintain an efficient system of communication between all DVHRT members to increase successful interventions. Act as the point of contact for members.
- Help Legal Advocacy program to recruit, maintain and supervise a core group of volunteer legal interns. Record-keeping and Data Analysis: · Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems quickly. ·
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. · Maintain all DVHRT files and confidential client records with diligent and complete record-keeping and submit monthly statistics. ·
- Develop a tracking system to manage data regarding cases accepted to the DVHRT and other non-case specific data relating to the DVHRT. ·
- Technical Support and Training: Provide and/or coordinate technical support and training to DVHRT members to ensure allied professionals are up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the domestic violence field.
- Adherence to policies related to HIPAA, confidentiality, information sharing and appropriate use of agency client database.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education:Four-year college degree or equivalent skills as demonstrated by experience or education. Must be a certified domestic violence counselor as per California State Evidence Code 1037.1 or be able to complete the training within three months of hire.
- Experience:At least two years of supervisory experience working in the field of domestic violence.
- Considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system, the domestic violence response in the jurisdiction and at least five years of experience in a social services agency highly desirable.
- Transportation:A valid California Driver License, availability of automobile for business use, and at least minimal auto liability insurance coverage as required by law.
- Additional Requirements: Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice Criminal Record Offender Information Data Base. Must me 21+ years old
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency strongly encouraged.
- Must have ability to read and write English
- Must be able to make sound decisions independently during crisis hotline calls.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—oral and written.
- Ability to function as a part of a team and work in collaboration with outside agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate feedback and utilize supervision.
- Familiarity with community-based services in Tulare County and neighboring counties in the Central Valley.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis-driven or potentially difficult situations involving clientele living with mental health conditions, engaged in drug/alcohol use, victims of crime, etc.
- The administrative functions of the position are performed primarily in a shared office setting under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
- May be exposed to all outside weather conditions and be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- This position typically spends time sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, driving, carrying and lifting (up to 25lbs).
- Frequent operation of computer keyboard, firm/strong grasping, and repetitive hand control. Able to complete all forms in personal writing.
- Make and receive telephone calls. Use of general office equipment, copier, scanner, and fax machine. Subjected to outside environmental conditions.
- Close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Psychological tolerance for confrontation and/or disruptive behaviors
