The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine seeks a diverse pool of nominees and applicants for the position of Professor and Chair in the Department of Pathology on the main campus of the Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. Salary, rank, and tenure consideration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, in collaboration with its key partners, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Regional One Health, VA Medical Center in Memphis, and University Clinical Health seek to maintain a modern Department of Pathology that serves the needs of the community for both traditional anatomic pathology as well as cutting-edge molecular and genomic pathology, including diagnostics. As a part of this objective, it will be essential to support pathologists who specialize in particular clinical or research areas. Further, the successful candidate will be expected to grow the research portfolio of the department. The Department embraces a tripartite role in clinical service, research, and education. The outstanding pathologists who have been and will be recruited will have protected academic time to further this mission. The Chair is responsible for the management of the educational program (medical students, pathology residents and fellows) and research missions of the department.


Qualifications

Applicants should hold the M.D. degree or equivalent. The successful candidate will possess leadership abilities, professionalism, administrative skills, and management abilities. They must have a demonstrated record of administration of an academic enterprise, including management of a budget, personnel, space and other resources. The Chair will oversee all activities of the Department of Pathology. These include clinical, research, and educational administrative and supervisory tasks. We seek a recognized leader with a superb academic background, including strong clinical credentials and exceptional research training and accomplishments.
