As an important member of our research team, the Professional Research Assistant will support the laboratory of Dr. Uday Kompella. Your research will involve drug discovery, delivery, and development for treating diseases of the eye, lungs, and the brain, with a key focus on the eye.
Examples of Work Performed
- Conduct of drug efficacy, safety, and delivery studies in rodent and rabbit eyes, using techniques including laser- or chemical- induced CNV, ERG, OCT, histology, and immunohistochemistry
- Data collection, analysis, and report generation.
- Assistance with day-to-day research activities
- Meeting with the Principal Investigator for the purpose of progress updates and mentoring.

Salary Range
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $35,600 - $43,000.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in veterinary sciences, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences or a closely related field.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Handling of rats and mice for ocular efficacy and safety studies
- Handling of rabbits for ocular efficacy and safety studies
- Experience with techniques including animal model development and characterization for eye diseases.
- Experience with common laboratory techniques for pathological and biochemical analysis of tissues
- Laboratory research experience
- Experience with database management

- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal comunication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.

- Ability to interpret and comprehend complex research protocol information.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of animal and human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
