Job description
- Provide clear communication and technical guidance to railroad employees, management & Wabtec employees including troubleshooting, material assistance, tooling and / or locomotive status, safety procedures, productivity and process improvements, and contract requirement clarification
- Coordinate and provide instruction on key programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance modifications
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to create proactive repair opportunities in the shop and to gain confidence with the craftsman
- Train and monitor work activities for safe and efficient locomotive repairs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry / site specific work rules
- Make risk assessments balancing customer requests with Wabtec requirements
- Work with various software systems to manage material, labor plans, and other systemic requirements
- Work with customers externally and internally to identify new opportunities to improve our current processes as well as design and implement progressive management processes and systems based on LEAN and Six Sigma
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years professional work experience or Associate's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional work experience or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Services
- Able to support both the CSX Service Center and Florida East Coast Shops as needed. Primary work location will be on CSX with occasional support required at the FEC location for training and backup employee coverage.
- Able to properly use electrical measurement tools- including but not limited to multimeters, meggers, micro–ohm meters, watt meters & clamp probes
- Able to properly use mechanical measuring devices- including but not limited to calipers, thread gauges, bore gauges, feeler gauges & depth gauges
DESIRED CHARECTERECTICS:
- Expertise with Wabtec AC/DC EVO, AC44, Tier 4, Dash 8, Dash 9 locomotive platforms
- General Rail industry knowledge and experience
- Experience in a field site, shop or manufacturing environment
- Experience with process/procedure development and implementation
- Knowledge in materials management, operations, inventory control and logistics
- LEAN experience, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
