Job description

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient production of steel castings by the casting of molten steel in molds. Responsibilities include directing an hourly union workforce in the movement of molds and flasks by overhead crane, coordinating steel melting activities with molding production, monitoring conditions of pouring ladles, and supervising the pouring of castings.

  • Schedule hourly workforce to achieve job goals
  • Supervise and record data during pouring operations
  • Direct housekeeping efforts and maintain a clean environment to ensure employee safety around operating equipment.
  • Maintain inventory control with adequate levels of materials and order any supplies needed to maintain efficient operations.
  • Maintain daily and monthly records of production operations and output.
  • Perform all other related duties assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma required.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with production of molten steel preferred.
  • Familiarity with refractory preferable
  • Knowledge of computer applications a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to direct and motivate people, complete multiple tasks promptly, and work well with others. Organized, responsible, self-motivated, and provide recommendations to enhance operations and safety performance
  • Ability to implement company’s policies concerning safety and make sound judgments with limited supervision.
