Barnes Aerospace MRO East Granby has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Production Operator. In this role you will perform diversified duties as well as cross train to learn and perform additional functions. This position requires experience, initiative and ingenuity and the ability to work independently to produce the highest level of quality and productivity against established standards. Core Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of duties to chemically clean parts; remove paint and coatings and set up and water jet strip parts in preparation for the overhaul of aircraft engines to meet customer specifications and achieve quality results.
  • Work from established practices and overhaul manual instructions and procedures to perform a variety of duties to prepare parts for subsequent operations.
  • Verify part tags against part numbers upon receipt of parts; review of work scope, manual and SPOP specifications for correct process and solutions; and, selection of proper fixtures for processing.
  • Hand clean small parts as required. Request assistance regarding processes or cleaning difficult materials and parts. Use protective gloves, masks, shields, and coats.
  • Plan and prioritize work to ensure efficient and timely cleaning of parts. Follow established procedures for processing parts to strip paint, remove rust, carbon, and grease from parts. Maintain knowledge of material reactivity and process requirements. Use judgment in determining quantity of parts for effective and time efficient cleaning.
  • Monitor cleaning line equipment on a daily basis: Check pumps, lines, filters, floats, and temperature of solutions. Monitor use of solutions and waste tank storage levels. Follow established procedures and initiate testing and changing tank solutions. Add chemicals to tanks as directed by the quality department. Maintain logs of operations and tank cycles. Maintain inventory of supplies and requisitions tools and materials as required.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with changing pumps, cleaning tanks, filters, floats and troubleshooting cleaning equipment. Maintain knowledge of chemical processing and handling of material and cleaning line equipment. Make effective recommendations for improved processes.
  • In addition to Clean Line duties, cross training will be required to learn and perform other duties as necessary, including plasma spraying/masking and/or heat-treating aircraft components.
  • Detect faulty operations and materials and report these and other problems to immediate supervisor. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
  • Provide training to others as required.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years in aerospace environment preferred
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Knowledge/Practical experience in aerospace environment
  • Ability to read and interpret manual instructions and procedures
  • Skills Desired: strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, good communications skills

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Training may need to occur on 1st shift Monday- Friday - 6:30am - 3:00pm

Monday-Friday - 3:00pm-11:30pm - 2nd shift

Sunday - Thursday - 11:00pm - 7:00am

This position is a safety sensitive position. Applicant must comply with all applicable FAA and DOT drug and alcohol testing rules.
