ASC Profiles LLC is the leading manufacturer of steel roof and wall products and structural roof and floor deck in the Western U.S., servicing customers from six locations. ASC Profiles services various segments of the steel construction industry through its three divisions, AEP Span, ASC Steel Deck and ASC Building Products.


Job Description


The Product Manager plans and manages the product portfolio and roadmap for ASC Profiles and leads product initiatives throughout all stages of the product life cycle (conception, definition, business case, development, launch, and post-launch activities) to ensure achievement of strategic objectives for the business (revenue, profit, ROIC, market share, etc.). The Manager also operates as the SME for the product portfolio, and collaboratively supports the marketing team in the creation of marketing strategies, programs, tools, and content to drive brand and product awareness, preference, and lead generation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Leads development of strategic vision and direction/plan for the ASC product portfolio, in alignment with business strategies.
  • Analyzes product line performance (revenue, volume, margins, trends, etc.) to inform portfolio strategy, and to ensure achievement of strategic and financial objectives.
  • Creates and implements a product development roadmap with product offering, margins, and positioning that deliver competitive advantage and drive profitable growth.
  • Captures “voice of customer” feedback from consumers, customers, key influencers, and internal stakeholders, and translates insights into product strategy.
  • Conducts competitor and market analysis to understand market needs and trends.
  • Drives the new product development process, in collaboration with Engineering and cross-functional project teams, to ensure cost, schedule and performance objectives are met.
  • Manages the Product Offer Analysis (POA) process from initiation to implementation and launch; updates the Product Offer Manual (POM) as required, and communicates to all functional groups
  • Partners with Marketing Team to create effective launch, promotion, and communication programs.

Qualifications


Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing or engineering; or combination of experience
  • Project management experience
  • Cross-functional team leadership
  • Experience managing new product development projects, ideally with Stage-Gate methodology

Preferred:

  • Building products industry experience, ideally in metal roofing or related product category
  • 5+ years product management experience

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong strategic thinking and overall business acumen
  • Solid financial understanding – working knowledge of P&L and product profitability management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership
  • Adept at multi-tasking (highly organized and can handle multiple projects concurrently)
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Basic knowledge of the product design, manufacturing, and supply chain functions
  • Can identify current and future trends and is able to translate these into product implications
  • Ability to listen to, capture, and translate customer and consumer needs
  • Works effectively independently, and, as part of a cross-functional team, as leader or team member
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency, high energy, and self-motivation
  • Proficient in the English language, with effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
