Product Engineer - Zeeland, Michigan
DISHER is currently partnering with a building products leader in Zeeland, Michigan as they look to add a Product Engineer to their growing team. In this integral role, you will be responsible for taking a concept from idea to launch while effectively working through a full product development cycle.

What you'll get to do:

  • Apply new technology and technical skills/knowledge to products to solve a customer need
  • Use your knowledge of engineering principles, focused mainly in mechanical, but touching on materials, electrical, and optical areas as well
  • Bring products through the product development cycle to market
  • Take a concept from the idea phase through the production launch.
  • Develop testing plans for concepts that have no existing plan.
  • Face issues head-on with a mindset based in problem-solving and growth
  • Present and communicate your work/projects to company executives

What will make you successful:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field AND 3+ years of hands-on new product experience is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience with design and manufacturing of injection molded products preferred. Hands-on glass or building products experience is a plus.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R’s, Test Plans, Cost Estimates, Prototypes and working within a stage gate process.
  • A flexible thinker with a passion to get things right.
  • Understanding of the ups and downs of R&D - knowing there is benefit in putting something on the shelf until other factors align yet having a drive to push through issues that can be solved with alternatives.
  • Knowledge of 3D software, particularly SolidWorks, is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of Engineering Quality – Advanced Quality process knowledge and understanding. Practical experience with DOE, Control Plans and capability studies and can apply the knowledge gained to improve E&D design standards and processes.
  • Basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel and ability to sort and present data in graphic form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management, planning skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages is critical for the success of this role.
