Job Summary: Support new product development objectives by managing product portfolio. Work with product development team members to develop potential new categories. Collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders to help manage the product development process through the product lifecycle. Sales process & presentation immersion, along with assisting in developing key account development strategies within various retail channels will be a secondary focus of this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the PD Manager with development of new products within the overall category scope, while managing specific categories with guidance, as assigned.
• Gather and maintain market data on key product trends: including competitive landscape, new fabrication methods, materials, designs, and pricing and provide recommendations to PD Manager.
• Work with manager to develop a strong understanding of the Product Development process from inception through design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
• Responsible for communicating all timelines and providing the documentation for all development projects to Project Management.
• Create and maintain item information on the intranet (UPC’s, freight information, HTS numbers etc.) for all items under PD responsibility. Work closely with legal and quality to ensure accuracy of social and legal compliance.
• Work with PD manager to develop a strong understanding of Product Development financial and costing strategies.
• Develop pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing profits and gaining market share while ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Work with domestic and import vendors to better understand how products are manufactured to ensure that we can be more efficient and more competitive to increase profitability.
• Participate in ideation, brainstorming and research across all product categories.
• On-going analysis of internal sales/POS data to assist in product line management/recommendations. Work with the sales team to execute successful strategies on key accounts.
• Communicate regularly with Asia to track and maintain import item development.
• Communicate with Engineering, Manufacturing & factories regarding design interpretation, quality & pricing.
• Collaborate with Consumer Insights Research Analyst to perform necessary research to understand VOC.
• Liaison between the retailer and internal Creative & Purchasing teams on colorant and packaging requirements.
• Strategize and help for marketing/ promotional plans, lead communication for Marketing team execution.
• Assist accounting department with pricing concerns and maintain accurate import factory list pricing.
• Maintain database of quotes and price adjustments. Update master pricing sheets when applicable.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Skills Required

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, business, or related experience in Product Development Life Cycle management.
• 2-5 years of experience
• Ability to professionally present design concepts to management & customers.
• In-depth understanding of consumer, brand-positioning needs as it relates to a category
• Capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with strong prioritization skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as under creative direction.
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
• May require travel up to 10% of time, 14-17 days at a time (overseas travel)

Physical Demands

• Extended periods of computer work that primarily involves sitting
• Light work that includes moving objects up to twenty pounds
