POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Procurement Specialist based in Reno Nevada is responsible for the procurement of power components utilized in underground and overhead infrastructure, substation infrastructure, traffic signal infrastructure, ITS infrastructure, and a multitude of outdoor lighting consisting of highways, streets, and airports. The Procurement Specialist will need to understand project specifications, be able to negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers for product cost and lead times, and engage suppliers and vendors for the best available products and services to enable profitable and timely project completion while maintaining strategic relationships. The Procurement Specialist will manage the company’s sourcing capabilities for specified product feasibility, quality, and schedule, and will also be expected to identify cost containment or cost reduction solutions to mitigate project risk.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:
- Work closely with Operations and Project Management to ensure successful delivery of the project
- Support daily, weekly, and monthly meetings as requested
- Setup, organize, update, and maintain electronic and printed files of procurement working documents
- Update Project and Construction Management on the status of materials and equipment
- Update Project and Construction Management on the status of owner-furnished materials and equipment
- Support Field and Project Management with the development and maintenance of material tracking methodology
- Organize, update, and maintain quality records and Mill Test Reports (MTRs) for all furnished materials
- Maintain a process to provide general guidance for Estimators and Project Managers on material lead times
- Work with Project Management to develop, submit, track, and maintain all project submittals
- Assist Project Management with project close-out activities
- Assist with all contractual closeout activities (lessons learned, as-built review, as-built submittals, punch list, and final for record submittals / electronic vendor drawings and quality documentation, etc.)
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, required)
- Maintain a professional appearance with the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Effective communication (oral, written, presentation, listening)
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks
- Ability to work onsite and travel locally as needed to support the projects
- Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of three years of material sourcing in electrical industry or similar Construction field
Preferred Education and Experience
- General knowledge of High Voltage Construction (Overhead, Underground, Substation) materials and equipment
- General knowledge of Horizontal Construction (Traffic Signals, Highway Lighting, Airport Lighting, ITS) materials and equipment
