    SCOPE OF POSITION:

    Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization, while optimizing the material supply impact on the customer experience.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manages site procurement, execution, planning, scheduling, and control.
    • Coordinates activities related to steel sourcing and procurement of materials needed to meet product demand.
    • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the site supply chain.
    • Leads the site supply chain team in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
    • Monitors and corrects inventory levels to ensure accuracy, rotation, and maximize working capital. Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase the efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
    • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.
    • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
    • Develop strategies such as dual sourcing, buffering, and forward buying that minimize financial impact uncertainties such as yields, timing, pricing, and catastrophic events.
    • Accurately identify risks affecting supply, transformation, delivery, and customer demand.
    • Determine the need for material and capacity to address expected demand, execute the resulting plans and update planning and financial information to reflect the results of execution
    • Develop effective supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction and the lowest possible cost
    • Research and seek out the most cost-efficient shipment procedures and methods
    • Establish and maintain a professional relationship with vendors while promoting company initiatives and values
    • Research and provide suggestions on solutions for process improvements related to supply chain and logistics
    • Purchasing and inventory control (as applicable)
    • Track production status with vendors through daily communication with suppliers. to ensure target shipment dates are being met.
    • Project and plan production capacity.
    • Build supplier relationships.
    • Daily communication with key business partners.
    • Issue and follow up on Purchase Orders.
    • Ensure QC compliance including FAI/ In-Line production.
    • Provide immediate communication to senior management on potential escalation issues
    • Communicate with logistics coordinators to ensure products are picked up and delivered to the site expeditiously.
    • Maintain inventory levels on current products, which includes inventory transactions.
    • Negotiate with costs with vendors.
    • Some travel may be required.
    QUALIFICATIONS


    KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:
    (Minimum Education and/or Experience required)

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering or equivalent
    • 7+ years Procurement, Supply Chain, and Logistics experience
    • 5- 7 years exp. in buying steel
    • 5- 7 yrs. exp. in production and manufacturing of steel parts
    • Professional certifications, such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) are a plus.
    • Be a self-starter and a team player.
    • Strong multi-tasking skills. • Steel industry experience is a plus.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, team development, and critical thinking skills.
    • High level of integrity with a strong emphasis on making and meeting commitments.
    • High sense of urgency with the ability to delegate and prioritize to meet required deadlines
    • Strong computer software skills: Microsoft Office applications, NetSuite, QuickBooks. Excel micro level.
    • Knowledge and experience in supply chain and logistics management.
    • Strong leadership, communications, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while also focusing on project completion.
    • Strong work ethic, initiative, and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written communication and presentation skills
    • Latest generation ERP (SAP or Oracle strongly preferred)
    • Demonstrated Forecasting experience
    • Demonstrated experience reducing cost or improving efficiency
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required)
    • Experience with exporting, importing and customs brokerage preferred
