Job Summary
The Center for Process Improvement and Innovation (CPI2) Manager will champion process improvement, innovation and strategic project management initiatives within the St. Joseph’s Nashua Health System.
This position requires the skills of a dynamic and flexible professional who will collaborate with functional stakeholders to identify, develop and execute project plans and process improvement solutions that deliver the best value for the system and the best experience for our patients. The incumbent will be responsible for leading and coordinating initiatives across the value stream to achieve greater efficiencies, reduce waste and deliver projects on-time and on-budget. The individual will lead and manage projects and initiatives of varying scope and sizes.
The position requires a balance of process improvement knowledge and skills, project management knowledge and skills and the ability to work collaboratively with leaders and staff at all levels. The individual will display a solid working knowledge of hospital operations and will analyze and interpret data to develop and execute innovative solutions from idea inception to implementation. Lastly, one will promote a culture and environment of continuous improvement and staff development through the sharing and application of lean, project management and change management tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for enhancing organizational efficiency through process improvement initiatives including workflow improvement, quality improvement, strategic initiatives and growth opportunities
- Provide direct project management oversight of projects including cost management, schedule development, identification and monitoring deliverables and constant communication
- Lead the planning, oversight and implementation of multiple initiatives, analyses and deliverables concurrently while facilitating their successful completion
- Capture, measure and optimize workflows and processes through the development and implementation of strategic improvements and action plans that drive continual progress
- Produce, evaluate and analyze data, including patient clinical data, to identify and quantify cost reduction and operational efficiency opportunities
- Create and conduct training throughout the organization to advance the understanding of lean and process improvement, project management and other continuous improvement concepts
- Through collaboration with peers assist in the development, maintenance and use of process improvement and project management tools to be applied across the system
- Support and promote the mission, vision and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Quality Management, Healthcare, Nursing, Engineering or other related functional area is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Black Belt in Lean or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent is preferred
- PMP Certification is preferred
- Nursing experience in a hospital environment a plus
Experience:
- Five years’ experience with process improvement and/or project management tools and techniques, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Demonstrated track record of success in areas such as health care finance, strategic planning, clinical operations, change management, process improvement, project management, data analysis and knowledge transfer
- Ability to simplify and clarify complex and ambiguous problems
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal and listening) with a natural ability to work cross-functionally, especially in situations requiring instruction, persuasion, negotiation, conflict resolution, consultation and advising
- Friendly, approachable and positive attitude and demeanor
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and under pressure with challenging deadlines and a desire for collaborative solutions
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis, spreadsheet and presentation software
- Flexibility to travel as needed to meet the needs of the business
