A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Privacy Operations Manager works under the direction of the General Counsel with matrixed leadership support from the Global Privacy Manager. This role supports the privacy team to operationalize identified requirements, including creating and implementing processes. As a partner to the business, the Privacy Operations Manager facilitates discussions, collects feedback, and drives privacy compliance. This role is also responsible for supporting the implementation and management of privacy technology tools, including collection and entry of relevant data.

  • Implements and manages privacy compliance tools.
  • Advises business functions on potential risks of new product lines and service offerings.
  • Creates, implements, and manages privacy-related processes and assessments such as Data Protection Impact Assessments and Transfer Impact Assessments.
  • Analyzes privacy incidents and breaches to determine trends and develop tailored mitigation and training.
  • Pro-actively engages with business functions to identify potential privacy issues while maintaining current knowledge of business priorities and initiatives.
  • Serves as the initial point of contact for internal and external privacy queries.
  • Develops and tracks metrics and regular reporting mechanisms for assessing privacy program maturity.
  • Intakes, investigates, and prepares notifications for regulatory and patient inquiries regarding Personal Data, PHI, and PII incidents.
  • Monitors and conducts research on privacy-related laws, guidance, and best practices.
  • Cultivates partnerships between key business partners and the privacy team.
  • Creates and distributes internal privacy trainings and privacy awareness communications to promote privacy-informed business operations.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, privacy laws, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a law-related discipline, preferred, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Privacy certification, such as through a university or IAPP, preferred.
  • 2 plus years of experience in performing privacy risk assessments and ongoing privacy compliance monitoring activities.
  • 2 plus years of experience in business operations, program management, or other business operations discipline.
  • 4 years of experience as a paralegal and comparable work experience within a business function that supports privacy compliance.
  • Working understanding of the GDPR and the US privacy landscape (including state privacy laws, the HIPAA and the HITECH Act.
  • Demonstrated ability and success with process design and improvement in a cross-functional environment.
  • Confidence to work independently and anticipate requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex legal and privacy topics and turn that knowledge into actionable guidance.
  • Very strong organizational and project management skills, with a pragmatic and target-driven attitude and a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality.
  • Effective, proactive cross-functional collaborator with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts.
