Description: This role will work closely with the onsite Intake Coordinator to prepare, submit, and follow up on prior authorization requests to health insurance companies. The prior authorizations are a critical part of the Intake process. Prior approval is needed in order for the Intake team to schedule the patient for their treatment. This role will report to the Director of Clinical Services and will meet on an ongoing basis to review the authorization process and address any issues that may arise. This is a contract position and the pay is $25/hour.
Responsibilities

• Review the patient records - Contact the insurance company, via online portal or over the phone and provide them all the necessary details needed for the approval process. Depending on the medication- Example: Medical records, Order, Labs, Scans
• Contact referring providers office for missing clinical or additional information needed in order to obtain the authorization
• Once on the call, record insurance details regarding the contact name of the representative and reference number. Record everything in the patient’s Log
• Once authorization is received, document the duration and approval number for the patient.
• Notify the intake team for pressing authorizations that have been completed
• Closely track and take timely action to resolved prior authorization denials
• Update process documentation for change in payor policy requirements for medications
• Add insurance prior approval requirements for new medications to market to our medication list.

Requirements:

• Experience working in the healthcare industry is required.
• LPN, CNA or RN required
• Understanding of health insurance and how it impacts patient care.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Team player and excited to help support a rapidly growing business.
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
