Position:

.8 FTE - Preschool Promise Preschool Teacher Monday through Thursday

Director or Designee


Job Summary:

To develop, plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs for children. Also includes working closely with families, and other agencies serving these children, participating in eligibility evaluations and functioning as a member of a collaborative service team.


Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains a positive learning environment for all children that encourages growth in all areas of development;
  • Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing children with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans;
  • Leads, trains, and supervises educational assistants, and/or volunteers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students;
  • Monitors students’ behavior/activities in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment;
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel;
  • Collaborating with program staff, families, agencies, physicians, and community partners in a relationship-based organization for the purpose of improving the overall quality of child outcomes;
  • Consulting with parents and families;
  • Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. IFSP meetings, data teams, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions;
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. newsletters, attendance records, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting progress;
  • Reports incidents (e.g. suspected child abuse, injuries, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of children, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies;
  • Fulfills performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position;
  • Fulfills working conditions and physical effort listed below;
  • Complies with specifications established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act;
  • Fulfills other related duties as assigned;
  • Occasional travel between district locations using personal transportation.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of birth to five years typical and atypical developmental benchmarks
  • Ability to develop “family-friendly” Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
  • Awareness and/or experience with standardized and curriculum-based assessments for typical and atypical development;
  • Ability to utilize appropriate technology and computer systems;
  • Expectation to participate in ongoing professional development opportunities;
  • Complete required paperwork within the timeframe set by program administration;
  • Comply with Central Background Registry requirements through the Early Learning Division
  • Must adhere to District COVID Requirements.


Qualifications
:

  • Hold or qualify for an Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education or EI/ECSE endorsement or possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education or a related field. Those without a TSPC endorsement in EI/ECSE or a related field must possess or have the ability to possess the Early Childhood Specialist authorization within 12 months of employment.
  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.

  • Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.

  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small group situations to students and other school staff.
  • Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from children and families.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a variety of situations.
  • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use database software, e-mail, internet software, spreadsheets, and word processing software (Google Docs, Forms, Calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Hold a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon the population of children and activities.

Salary:

$46,788.92 - $86,849.01 based on years of experience teaching, educational degree, and post-degree college coursework. Prorated based upon start date and FTE.
