We are currently seeking a Preparedness Senior Managing Associate. This is a full-time remote position with frequent travel required to client sites. The ideal candidate should have a passion for emergency management and be ready to lead projects and programs, coordinate with and advise clients, mentor and develop team members, and lead business development efforts. Preparedness Senior Managing Associates lead, coordinate, or provide subject matter expertise to complex projects for federal, state, local, tribal, and/or private sector clients related to emergency management and homeland security, including assessments, plans, training, exercises, and evaluations. Preparedness Senior Managing Associates build the internal capacity of the Preparedness Division through candidate interviews, delegating tasks, developing training and tools, delivering feedback, and the regular mentorship and coaching of direct reports. Preparedness Senior Managing Associates support firmwide growth through business development and marketing activities.
Candidates for Preparedness Senior Managing Associate must possess the following qualifications:
Preparedness Senior Managing Associate Basic Qualifications:
- The desire to help communities and organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural hazards, such as hurricanes and wildfires, and human-caused disasters such as infrastructure failures and active threat incidents
- Seven or more years of experience in emergency management, economic development, resilience, public health, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience serving in a leadership capacity for projects.
- Experience serving in a supervisory capacity for people, building teams, and providing constructive feedback.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (a writing prompt is required during the interview process).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint)
Candidates for Preparedness Senior Managing Associate may also have the following qualifications:
Preparedness Senior Managing Associate Preferred Qualifications:
- Consulting experience at the federal, state, and local levels of government, universities and/or private sector.
- Project management experience that includes managing a team, creating and managing project budgets, contract management, identifying and fulfilling staffing needs, and oversight of successful delivery of support and related deliverables.
- Proven ability to conduct polished business development, provide excellent customer service, and maintain client/professional relationships/partnerships.
- Experience researching complex issues and presenting outcomes and insights to a client, supervisor, or large audience.
- A strong understanding of emergency management processes at the local, state, and federal levels, including knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), the Incident Command System (ICS), the National Response Framework (NRF), National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), and other federal preparedness guidance documents and policies.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting customer service and maintaining client/professional relationships.
- The ability to be flexible and demonstrate integrity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in all endeavors.
- Able to remain calm and poised under pressure, work successfully on multiple priorities simultaneously, and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.
