Job Duties:
The Metal Fabricator will be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, setting up and running fabrication operations for precision metal components and assemblies, and performing quality checks during setup and monitoring quality in-process throughout manufacturing runs in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. The Metal Fabricator will report to the Secondary Fabrication department supervisor for work assignment.
Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints
Setting up metalworking machinery including slip rollers, drill presses, CNC press-brakes, spinner tools, hand coiling machines, kick presses, arbor presses, pneumatic presses, toggle presses, surface grinders, abrasive saws, shears, basic manual mill & lathe operations, and more
Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines
Measuring fabricated parts/assemblies and preparing first article inspection reports for QC signoffs
Ensuring quality is checked and maintained during setup, in-process, and through completion of manufacturing operations
Preparing laser cut, wire EDM cut, stamped, & chemically etched flat blanks for Secondary Operations
Finishing, deburring, blasting, grinding, graining, heat treating, stress relieving etc. of components using a variety of methods, tools, & equipment
Assists with the design & fabrication of form tooling, fabrication fixtures, and other fabrication aids
Collaboration with internal customers in other Company departments including CNC Machining, EDM, Laser, Purchasing, Quality, Cleaning, and others to maintain high levels of quality, efficiency, and on time delivery
Follows and leads by example with respect to company safety rules & guidelines
Completes job reports as required by Operations Management
Requirements:
Previous metal fabrication work experience. Light gauge sheet metal and small diameter wire forming experience strongly preferred
Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints
Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including slip rollers, drill presses, CNC press-brakes, spinner tools, hand coiling machines, kick presses, arbor presses, pneumatic presses, toggle presses, surface grinders, abrasive saws, shears, basic manual mill & lathe operations, and more
Ability to form sheet metal from .002”-.125” thick using CNC press brakes, arbor presses, & kick presses
Ability to form wire from Ø .005” - .312” using CNC press brake, Di-acro, & spinner tools
Tube forming experience is a plus!
Understanding of the proper use of inspection tools & measuring equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, scales, protractors, overlays, gage blocks, indicators, drop gages, and optical comparators.
Basic knowledge of common metal alloys & tempers. Experience with metal alloys used in electronics, medical devices, energy industry desired
Good mathematical skills including conversions between imperial & metric
Education:
Minimum High School Diploma/GED/CHSPE and/or trade school education
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy metal objects.
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
Must be able to work overtime daily and on weekends when required.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
