What you will need
:
- License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
- Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred
- Certification: BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required
- Experience: Three years nursing experience. Experience in Ambulatory Surgery, PACU or Pre Admission Testing
What you will do
:
Pre-Anesthesia Nurses Responsibilities:
- Gather and verify receipt of pertinent patient medical information including and not limited to: H&P, medical clearances, pre-procedure testing, specialty physician documents
- Ascertain a thorough patient history via phone interview
- Identify clinical and disease specific predictors, conditions and procedural risk category
- Follow established Anesthesia Guidelines for pre-anesthesia testing and anesthesia referral
- Notify procedural physician and anesthesiologist of abnormal results
- Coordinate additional testing as directed
- Enter pre-procedure testing orders in the electronic medical record (EMR) based on established Anesthesia Guidelines
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary huddle with the objective to review unresolved patient information that could potentially delay or cancel a scheduled case for the following day or future date
- Interface with anesthesia leaders, surgeons, PCP’s, ASU staff and consulting services.
