Harris Beach is looking for a Practice Manager to support the Commercial Real Estate and Corporate practice groups. The Practice Manager is responsible for the execution of the business needs and internal operations of the practice groups across multiple offices, with a strong emphasis on its strategy, performance objectives, work allocation and collaboration. You will THRIVE in this role if you have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing and/or Project Management (preferred).
- 5+ years of related practice support and experience.
- Law firm experience (not required).
- Exceptional sense of intuition and follow-through and consistently bring a positive, flexible attitude to work.
- Sound judgment, the ability to prioritize, manage a heavy workload and adjust to changing priorities; work independently and as a member of a team, manage multiple projects with specific deadlines, and complete tasks under pressure.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications and ability to work in various software applications as needed.
- Strong service orientation, work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Serve as trusted advisor to Practice Group Leaders, to minimize managerial and administrative duties. Proactively and independently identify and analyze challenges, develop solutions, and deliver results.
- Plan and arrange ad hoc, monthly, and other periodic meetings, calls and other practice events. Liaise with Business Development and other functional departments on updates and practice-specific communications. Support Practice Group Leader and partners on initiatives to ensure deliverables and goals are met.
- Establish strong rapport and working relationships with functional departments across different groups, as well as strong relationships with key attorneys within the practice, throughout the Firm, and clients at Practice Group Leader’s request.
- Drive workload management/utilization through ongoing communication with partners, associates, and professional staff.
- Coordinate needs assessments for new hires, including laterals and entry-level associates, and work with Chief Administrative Officer and Human Resources personnel as needed in lateral recruiting, onboarding, and integration.
- Work with Practice Group Leaders and other relevant business service professionals to develop strategy and performance objectives, and lead, oversee, and ensure the timely execution of initiatives.
- Work with Practice Group Leaders to prepare presentation materials, as needed, for Management Committee, Partnership Compensation Committee and other committees and partners as needed.
- Work with Finance, Business Development and Practice Group Leader to develop revenue and expense budgets, review and manage expenses, assist in implementing alternative fee arrangements as necessary and provide information for strategic initiatives as needed.
- Ensure the specific business development and marketing initiatives are in-line with the Practice Group’s strategy.
- Work with Practice Group Leaders, attorneys, and Business Development to develop and drive practice group business development plans and individual business plans. Focus on generation of business leads, expansion of existing client matters, and identification and pursuit of cross-selling opportunities.
- Possess the ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
- Believe and successfully fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner consistent with the firm’s core values: integrity, support, ingenuity, teamwork, and inclusion
- Enjoy working with diverse personalities within various levels of the firm
- Are comfortable working in the office
