POST-SECONDARY AND ALUMNI COORDINATOR (Salem, MA)

FULL-TIME IN-PERSON POSITION WITH BENEFITS (40 HOURS PER WEEK)

The Post-Secondary and Alumni Coordinator is in charge of running the college component of our program (which serves approximately 60-75 post-secondary students a year), as well as overseeing and growing LEAP’s Alumni Network. The Coordinator supervises a part-time Associate, about 10-15 alumni mentors, as well as having a caseload of 35-40 post-secondary students to advise and mentor. The Coordinator meets with each of their post-secondary students on a regular basis to support their academic, career, and social-emotional progress throughout their certificate/trade/degree.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with LEAP’s post-secondary students
  • Assign students to work with the Associate and alumni mentors, as well as providing support, feedback, and supervision for these individuals
  • Ensure that data (enrollments, attendances, case notes, outcomes, etc.) is entered on our Salesforce database
  • Maintain caseload notes for your students, and follow up with any concerns, including meeting attendance, financial aid concerns, upcoming transfer or scholarship applications, and other student needs
  • Recruit students as needed by working closely with the rest of the College Success Program and Teen Center team to increase buy-in from our HS students and to retain current post-secondary students
  • Maintain a regular presence in the community and at local colleges to engage with current and potential students, as well as administrative staff and admissions/financial aid officers
  • Manage record keeping related to program expenses and budget
  • Expand the Alumni Network through outreach, planning events, and finding ways for our alumni to give back to LEAP through either volunteerism or potentially donations
  • Recruit, oversee, and advise 10-15 Alumni Mentors to provide case management for caseload of post-secondary students
  • Plan and coordinate alumni engagement and networking events
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the College Success Program Manager

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required (Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, or other related majors preferred).
  • One - three years of relevant experience
  • One (1) year of demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Must be proficient with MS Office programs, specifically Excel, and Google Suite
  • Ability to keep organized records of essential student information and data
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, developing an equity-lens, and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

ADDITIONAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Must have access to reliable transportation and/or a current driver’s license for days when travel is required
  • Strong communication skills and excellent editing skills to assist students in writing college essays
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in working with underserved youth and commitment to developing skills to best support this demographic group and demonstrated understanding of the unique barriers faced by this group
  • Must hold the belief that all youth have the ability to enroll and graduate with a post-secondary degree or credential, if they choose to do so
  • Prior experience helping students with the processes of getting into college and setting up their careers
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Must be willing to work very few instances of Fridays, weekends, or evenings for special events or activities

Compensation for this position ranges from $22.00/hour to $25/hour depending on experience and education.

Benefits: As a full-time employee working 40 hours a week, you will qualify for the following:

  • Accrued hours up to 3 weeks of vacation to start (increases based on tenure)
