Job Summary:

Under the supervision and direction of the MHS Area Manager or Team Lead, the Porter/External Greeter is responsible for greeting, screening, and providing assistance when appropriate, to all visitors, patients, and colleagues as they enter the facility and upkeep the hospital campus in order to enhance and maintain its cleanliness. The position provides information regarding directions and the location of specific services. The Greeter reflects the MHS-WE CARE core values.

Ensures a warm friendly welcome to all individuals entering the facility (i.e. patients, visitors, vendors, delivery personnel, staff, etc.) Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area.

Wears hospital-provided Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) while distributing PPE to those entering the facility.

Monitors the flow of people entering the building to ensure appropriate distancing between individuals in accordance with the social distancing guidelines posted leading up to and/or posted at the building entry.

Immediately report any accidents to the manager on duty.

Provide additional information to employees, patients, or visitors once responses have been documented.

Appropriate written and verbal communication skills.

Strong team player and ability to work independently.

Ethical understanding of patient processes, confidentiality, and personal health information (PHI) data management.

Maintains strict confidentiality related to work information (in accordance with HIPAA).

Constantly observes the condition of hospital grounds and immediately reports and/or initiates action to correct unsafe conditions.

Physically walks and/or uses a golf cart on and around the property on a frequent basis.

Maintains that the grounds are free of litter at all times.

Empties trash cans in assigned areas.

Salts walkways during inclement or icy weather.

Ensures that storage areas remain locked when not in use.

Establishes and maintains positive relationships with hospital staff and administrators.

Knowledgeable of hospital emergency procedures and response to hazards accordingly.

Immediately report any accidents to the manager on duty.

Maintains a safe, clean, and neat work environment by following standards and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Requirements:

Must be able to work legally in the United States.

Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

Must pass background and drug screenings.

May be required to meet immunization or health screening requirements.

Ability to demonstrate professionalism, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Passion for customer service and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

Willingness to work in the elements (heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.).

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, see, and hear.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Must be able to operate a motorized golf cart and/or other mechanical equipment.

The ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours is sometimes required.

Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds, frequently over a considerable distance.
